User Reviews for Sony KDE-42XS955 42

    Duration of ownership:

Strengths: Nice picture and cabinet design

    Weaknesses: None

Overall Evaluation: Picture is sharp even without using an HD satellite receiver. Television quality is what I expected and hoped for. I am glad I bought an HD quality television as opposed to the ED quality sets that are much cheaper.

    Duration of ownership:

Strengths: Colors look bright and vibrant.

Weaknesses: Fan noise, scaler is useless, user interface is bad, remote is poor, delays in switching channels via guide.

Overall Evaluation: I own a sharp 45" LCD and this sony. The stretch mode on the sharp is excellent and is a requirement for watching regular TV (stretches non-linear, sides of picture are stretched the most), sony just does a linear stretch. The HD picture on the sharp blows this one away, the sony is a bit grainy in the translation whereas the sharp has all 1080 lines. The user interface on the sony is also comparatively bad, a complete dissappointment. The sony's plasma colors are brighter and more vibrant, but that's the only plus.
