What You Should Know about the Pavilion Zd8000 Notebook - Customizable (3.0GHz Pentium 4 w/ HT Technology, 512MB DDR2, 60GB, DVDRW DL, Windows XP, 17

Not Much RAM for Multitasking

The more RAM your laptop has, the faster programs will run and the greater number of windows you can work in at one time. If your needs are simple and you rarely do more than two things at once on your PC, the relatively modest amount of memory that comes installed in inexpensive laptops will be enough. Today the standard amount of RAM shipped in most PCs is 2GB. If you like to multitask--say, you want to launch a search for a file and start backing up data to a disc while you watch a news video--you need more memory.

Strengths: This machine is a very fast and powerful machine. The screen is bright with brilliant colors and the perfect size to work on and also play on. Good WiFi,excellent screen, and a very fast machine.

Weaknesses: It does heat up but not nearly as bad as some have posted, not a problem, trust me. Really wish it had Quick Play functionality, and the fans are a little noisy(not to bad though).

Overall Evaluation: I've had this for about a year now and haven't had any real problems with it. I use it for work, to play games, and for a lot of media applications, and am very impressed with it's speed and power. I've played first person games and online games and never had a problem with it slowing or freezing. I have also dealt with the tech supprot and had knowledgeable support with my issues and questions. I would highly recommend this product to anyone. Speedy, nice screen, well rounded machine. My specs are as follows:3.2GHz P4HT1024MB DDRII1680*1050 display256MB ATI X60080 Gig HDDL DVDRW

Strengths: Fast, powerful, full-featured. Beautiful screen.

    Weaknesses: Some fan noise

Overall Evaluation: I bought this computer as a desktop replacement for a second home I bought and it does everything I have wanted including video and photo editing. The fans are a little noisy but no worse than the two equivalent desktops I have at my other home. It runs warm but not excessively hot and besides it's a 3.4 GHz Pentium 4 notebook so you expect some heat. At the time I bought it I compared it to all other equivalent notebooks and it had the most features at its price point of any. As far as sound is concerned, I use it with external speakers and it sounds great. When I want portability I use my 13.3 in laptop. I have used HP printers for years with excellent results but this is my first HP computer and to date I am very happy with it. I have had zero problems with it.
