Sony DRU-810A

Very Good

  • Pros
  • Among the fastest drives at DVD+R SL
  • Cons
  • Some write specs could be faster

Bottom Line

Among the speediest writers at single-layer +R; but it needed a rest to cool down between DL writes.

Strengths: very reliable dvd burner, never had a failure yet!

Weaknesses: could be a little faster/ide cable etc. but i'm not complaining.

Overall Evaluation: i would recommend this burner to everyone for almost anything...even though it could be faster at burning dvd...i think that for the price, the reliability of it's dvd writing capabilities is second to none....not even pioneer...like i said...never had a "burn failed" yet. :-)wake.

Strengths: Low Price for Sony brand name, paid about $60 at Newegg

    Weaknesses: None

Overall Evaluation: This DVD burner came with Nero Software, which has very bad tech support. Wrote 3 emails with no resolution, no toll-free number. $1.86 per minute to talk to someone. No way to load new label stock types. The burner had problems installing the black face plate. Had to call Sony to resolve. Sony had excellent support. Overall, we are very satisfied with the burner, but very disatisfied with the Nero software.
