What You Should Know about the Inspiron 1200 Notebook (1.30 GHz Celeron M 350, 256MB, 30GB, DVD/CD-RW, Windows XP, 14.1

Not Much RAM for Multitasking

The more RAM your laptop has, the faster programs will run and the greater number of windows you can work in at one time. If your needs are simple and you rarely do more than two things at once on your PC, the relatively modest amount of memory that comes installed in inexpensive laptops will be enough. Today the standard amount of RAM shipped in most PCs is 2GB. If you like to multitask--say, you want to launch a search for a file and start backing up data to a disc while you watch a news video--you need more memory.

    Duration of ownership: 2 Years

Strengths: Good, solid, cheap computer for simple tasks such as surfing the net and composing office documents.

Weaknesses: Multimedia applications run slower than usual and the computer cannot handle some high performance design apps. Could use a little more RAM. No wi-fi.

Overall Evaluation: I admit. I have been using this computer for two years and I cannot bear to part with it. I use it for everything. It is a little slower than I like, but the RAM is expandable. I have been saving money for a new Vista notebook but I definitely won't sell this one. Overall, it is a great budget PC that could perform better but gets the job done.

Overall Evaluation: I bought this notebook for school, and it has everything i can ask for. This is a wonderful notebook for only 650 dollars. I am so glad i didn't waste my money on a dell latitude. I would highly reccomend this laptop for anyone who needs a PC replacement or for anyone who needs a laptop for school.
