Strengths: Earth-shaking power ... crystal clear ... "Wireless" rear speakers ... Digital
Weaknesses: "Wireless" speakers ... some minor glitches when signal is weak
Overall: The Logitech Z-5450 is an amazing speaker system. It has more power than you would ever need (unless your ears support a ridiculous amount of sound). It is all digital and also features wireless rear speakers. One thing I didn't realize however was that the "Wireless" speakers still have to be plugged in so they're not exactly wireless (I never thought that they needed power). Also some minor glitches were seen when the receiver was in a place that couldn't be accessed easily. I think the signal from the remote did not totally arrive at the receiver so it got confused. Otherwise it's perfect!

Strengths: Two rear wireless speakers; wireless remote control; it's transmitter is also and high-end, mini A/V Reciever; Speakers are digital, not analog, & are THX Certified! Plus They sound Great in Surround!
Weaknesses: Rear Surround Speakers are wireless in that they don't need to be hooked up to the rest of the Surround Sound System with audio cables, but still require power through the included Power cables.
Overall: I waited a very long time before I finally got this setup, but only because the prices finally fell significantly during the Christmas Season, and I've never regretted it since. It's difficult to find a good wireless surround sound system, since something must provide those so-called 'wireless' rear surround speakers with power, and if the sound system wants to be good, as in, audible, the power must be significant in order provide good amplification, and that would eat through batteries like Homer Simpson at a donut shop. So the two rear-surround speakers are wireless in that they don't have audio ports & thus don't use audio cables like the rest do to hook-up the surround sound system, but each one has a 6ft. 2-prong power cord that you'll need to plug-into two power outlets, wherever you decide to place them. Also, the Subwoofer uses a proprietary, non-detachable cable that it uses to plug into the A/V Receiver/transmitter unit, and you can't extend it, nor can you use a regular Subwoofer cable for it. Also, the non-wireless speakers include the necessary little, black wires for the audio hookup, but unless you want to void your warranty with Logitech, only use those, and don't try using some of your own with larger gauges. Finally, if you get speaker stands for any of these speakers, make sure they are the platform-type; otherwise you can adjust the speaker bases to sit on the floor or mount them on your walls. As for the benefits, compared to most entirely wired surround sound systems, at least you don't have to worry about the rear audio cables going all the way from the main source to the back of your room or couch were these go, it's remote control is wireless, you can hook-up other stuff to the mini A/V receiver, like your VCR, DVD play, iPod, etc., plus it's THX Tested & Certified for ultra quality sound in a purely 5.1 digital surround-sound nirvana. Also, unlike other wireless sound systems that either use 2.4 or 5.8 GHz radio frequencies that 'll most likely interfere with you Wi-Fi network or cordless phones, or that use infrared (I.R.) that require a line of sight, this one uses multiple FM frequencies to find the best wireless connection to transmit sound to the rear wireless speakers without any distortion, which is real nice and requires no work. All-in-all very nice setup!

Strengths: Can be used for both your PC or your television. Sound quality is really nice. The rear speakers are wireless except for a plug for an outlet. THX Certified.
Weaknesses: Doesn't have many options for adjusting the sound when hooked up to a television. Rear speakers sound quality is reduced.
Overall: Offers really nice sound, and since the rear speakers are wireless you won't have wires running all over. The issue of the sound quality for the rear speakers isn't a big deal, as you won't notice one bit when using them. Highly recommended.

Strengths: Sound quality, Wireless rear speakers, small receiver, good looking speakers, plenty of inputs, quick and easy setup
Weaknesses: HUGE subwoofer, speakers can interfere with laptop wireless
Overall: While I did list some weaknesses for this system, I am really being nitpicky. I paid a third of retail price for these speakers, and I am getting just as good sounds as those who get the speakesr that cost hundreds to thousands of dollars. It isn't just good for the price I paid, because I cannot find anything wrong with the audio quality! It is probably just as perfect as the much higher quality systems!Despite the lower wattage, the audio is within a good range. In my medium sized living room, they are set to a little less than the middle volume. The audio receiver is tiny compared to the huge receivers you can get that are not "computer" speakers- about the size of a cable modem. (Go to the Electronics/Audio/Receivers section of Pricegrabber and see what I mean) Plus you don't get any of those other Home Theatre components that you don't actually need, like a DVD player. Just receiver and speakers. It comes with two toslink optical inputs- which is more or less the standard, plus three 3.5 mm jacks for analog 5.1 surround sound (which can be converted to three stereo sound inputs with the flick of a switch).I use this with my media center pc, and I couldn't be happier. All in all- great price, great sound. If you are not an extremely attuned audiophile, don't waste your money on a more expensive system.

Strengths: excellent sound quality, wireless rear speakers
Weaknesses: none
Overall: This speaker set has optical input, which was what I wanted. The sound quality is amazing, no wonder it is THX certified. The wireless rear speakers are convenient than most others, however they still need their own power input so that you still have to wire them from a power outlet. Overall it is one of the best computer speaker systems in the current market.
