    Duration of ownership:

Strengths: TiVo Interface, Lifetime eligibility, DVD Recorder

Weaknesses: Single layer DVD, Limited recording Time

Overall Evaluation: Combination of TiVo DVR with the ability to record and archive programs you really want to keep. I've been using this device for the past few months without a glitch. The DVD recording is easy and straight forward to use. This device is eligible for lifetime service for $299 which can save you money if you keep it for several years.

    Duration of ownership:

Strengths: Tivo, can record shows recorded on Tivo onto DVD, still eligble for tivo lifetime.

Weaknesses: Long and tedious setup process, no optical audio input but has audio output (degrades sound quality), slow response remote

Overall Evaluation: Basically, if you can still get your hands on this on clearance, you can still get Tivo lifetime of unit for 300. At the same time, you can record recorded tivo shows onto a dvd. The speed and setup are slow, but for this price and still get tivo lifetime, I think I'll manage.
