Strengths: Small, large array of 3rd party apps available, sturdy build, perfect fit for hand, nice protective cover.
Weaknesses: Slow, small, no keyboard, limited to addon's for ARM processors. Hardware failure.
Overall: I got this for 130 when buy.com was trying to get rid of all of theirs. I bought it for the sole reason of having a little portable web browser. While the 770 is a bit slow and the browser does not support a few java script sites or youtube, it still is a very nice gadget. I think I got more than what I payed for the device and I am happy overall with my purchase. My personal favorite 3rd party apps (www.maemo.org)are as follows:VNC client: Nothing like controlling your main PC from anywhere in your house! Pidgin: The default messengering software is Google talk and it kind of sucks, so Pidgin is your alternative solution. It supports most of the IM networks out there today. Its a bit slow to type on the screen, but its super mobile :)Kismet: I have always wanted a tiny little computer to run kismet on. With a bit of work you can successfully install kismet on this device. It is not very stable and you will experiance quite a few crashes, but if you want a stable kismet go buy a beafy laptop. Now for the not so nice. My screen ended up dieing after a reboot one morning and never came back. Nokia however was very nice on the phone and I have shipped it off to be repaired. I had heard bad reviews about how long nokia takes to repair things, but I am a patient person. It should still be under the limited warranty. Despite this I still stand by the device as a sturdy product because my roomate ordered one the same day I did and his 770 has been working perfectly.

Strengths: Compact size, high resolution LCD, convenient web surfing
Weaknesses: Using RS-MMC, small fonts, unprotected power button
Overall: I bought this Nokia 770 internet tablet when it was on sale. It is a great small product with which you can do a lot of things such as surfing web, watching videos, listening to music, text editing, etc. The LCD is small but has good resolution. Fonts are very clear, though a little small. Especially, you can even view pdf format professional papers with formulas and figures! The biggest disadvantage is that it uses reduced size MMC or MMC mobile, which are expensive and slow. Its later generation (800) uses two SD cards which are much better. Also the power button is unprotected. Thus sometimes if the power button is touched by chance, it's going to turn on without being noticed.

Strengths: No idea
Weaknesses: Again, still have no idea
Overall: Potential buyer, WATCH OUT !!! If you are unlucky like me, you might need to pay extra for this item. Mine was dead on arrival. Nothing shows up on the screen but two vertical lines when I turned it on. You need to vigorously read if they will take it back if it happens to you. In my case I bought it from Buy.com and Buy.con won?t take it back due to their Special Returns Policy. They asked me to contact Nokia directly. Nokia asked me to send it in for a repair. They didn't even give me a prepaid shipping tag. I have to pay for the shipping cost myself and they also asked me to purchase insurance and signature confirmation. Otherwise, they won?t be responsible if anything happens during the shipping process. It was totally ridiculous. Additionally, it will take at least 10 days until I get it back. I am VERY DISAPPOINTED with both Nokia and Buy.com. I have had much better buying experience with other seller and manufacturer (such as Amazon.com and Sony). The representative from Nokia (Lisa at Palco ? Nokia Authorized Repair Center) also told me that she would give me a prepaid shipping tag if I had bought it from Nokia not Buy.com.

Strengths: Extremely convenient, handy and portable. Great detection of available wireless networks. Lightweight and has a protective silver case for the screen. Has zoom feature & reads PDF files.
Weaknesses: Must install applications to access some functions; separate desk-stand; uses hard-to-find RS-MMC card, only a 64MB card is included. Java Script is not supported.
Overall: I love this gadget because now I don't need to lug my heavy laptop around campus or look for an available computer in a lab to check emails, surf, or look up something. It boots up fairly quick, and you get connected in no time. Installation of applications was not too bad, but was a bit confusing as to what to enter in the required fields before/during installation - you need to Google up the specific forums that provide the instructions for it. So far, the PC-to-PC calls via Gizmo Project seems to work when the N770 is located near the PC you're trying to call or getting calls from. I tried making a call from campus to my sister's PC (about 10 mins' walk from campus), and she never even got an incoming call alert or ringing tone. I'll have to try Goggle Talk or Jabber - they might work better. Audio (internet radio) is pretty good and video is clear but I haven't tried video files, other than the one included. It is excellent for light use when you don't have access to a PC or don't want to carry a laptop with you. I would have preferred an integrated desk-stand like the Nokia N800, but keeping the separate stands in the pouch with the N770 works too.
