Strengths: Very good color reproduction on laser paper and photo laser paper. Not inkjet photo quality but close, and a low cost per print over a inkjet. Serves my tasking well. Far superior to a Lexmark c532n.

Weaknesses: So far none. It's quiet seen reviews that it's noisy. To me it's a well made machine.

Overall Evaluation: It was hard to buy a product that had a muliple of low reviews. I had very good service with other Hp products this made the choice a little easier and I bought this printer. I'm not sorry that I did thats why I rated it as excellent.

Strengths: If someone wants a combined 40 pp/s in color and b/w then that person needs ot RADICALLY update the price range to be working in.... This machine is a seriously fast color and black/white printer with an unbelievable first-page delivery time.. The best feature that I REALLY like is the start-time for the ifirst page print for color or black and white. Whenever I push the print-button it is ready by the time I make it to the printer! lots-n-lots of pages/cartridge. card-stock or near-tissue paper-weight.... It is by far is the best, cheapest, and highest quality printing device available.

Weaknesses: none that I see... I love this machine - When needed, it will pull your butt out of the fire.

Overall Evaluation: I have been using this printer in a somewhat heavy duty environment for more than a year. It has NEVER failed me. It gives awsumely sharp images (I really don't know where the last poster was coming from). It is not an injuet and does not try to give the 'wet' images (use the fancy matt LJ paper). It does print the best set of documents that I have seen.... And when printing it is EXTREMELY fast amd quiet.

    Strengths: Great quality printouts

Weaknesses: Slow print speed Slow to warm up Performs calibration and cleaning regularly in the middle of the print job

Overall Evaluation: We have 5 of these printers in our company and all 5 have had to have warranty repair in the first few months . . . multiple times. We are not purchasing this printer anymore. I wouldn't recommend the 3800

    Duration of ownership:

Strengths: fast, quiet and good color quality.

Weaknesses: haven't found any as of yet.

Overall Evaluation: We have only recently purchased this printer, however, in comparison to the Dell 3100CN, it is a dream. It is quiet when printer and configuring, begins printing almost immediately after I send something and the color is bright and crisp. We have several other HP models in the office that we are very happy with and anticipate being very satisfied with this one also. Good investment, good price.

    Duration of ownership:

Strengths: Very fast; equals or betters manufacturers rating. Excellent on text and graphics.

Weaknesses: so-so printing on photographs. Very noisy. long start-up time.

Overall Evaluation: I recently purchased this printer for a home-based office network. Having a built-in ethernet printer server is a real bonus. Easily accessible by any computer on the network. However, printer is very noisy, especially on start up. Takes several seconds to go through start-up diagnostics. Runs calibration sequence when least expected. The unit is very fast once ready on-line. Easily meets or exceeds manufacturers specs. Excellent text and graphics. Only average photo printing with ability to print photos on full sheets of paper (ie: 8 1/2 X 11) only. Overall a very good unit, especially for the office network. Replacement costs for toner quite pricey.

What You Should Know about the LaserJet 3800N Laser Printer (22 PPM, 600x600 DPI, Color, 160MB, PC/Mac)

Installed Memory Works for Normal Sized Group's Everyday Printing

This printer's installed memory is sufficient for a typically sized workgroup (6 to 20 people) that prints a steady stream of mainstream business documents (memos, spreadsheets, or simple Web pages), plus some more graphics-intensive items (brochures, presentations, and reports). If your workgroup handles highly complex image files frequently, however, you'll want more memory than this printer provides.
