    Strengths: light weighted quite

    Weaknesses: the poorest customer services

    Overall Evaluation: lenovo's customer service is the worest i have even met. (1) long waiting time (about 30 min or more); (2) impatient CS people; (3) poor technicians who did not find the machine's problem at all but gave me the wrong information. finally, i received very good help from ibm CS. isn't it ridiculous? so, if you cannot stand poor customer services, stay away from lenovo please.

    Strengths: was great when it worked

    Weaknesses: once it had a problem, I couldn't get support

    Overall Evaluation: I sent my x60s to the service center 4 times because it kept freezing, and it has been 3 weeks of waiting for it and sending it back. They assured me that the problem was fixed, but now it freezes within a minute of being on. I find it appalling that they would claim that it's fixed when the problem is so obvious. Their only solution now is telling me to bring it in to a local service center where I will be charged a labor fee, even though my notebook is still under warranty. I wish I had found these reviews on support before I bought this machine.

    Strengths: none

    Weaknesses: everything. thinkVantage slows down the computer or else causes it to fail when trying to give presentations. Mousebuttons frequently don't work. Lenovo customer service refuses to authorize a return. poor sound quality.

    Overall Evaluation: Wiuth lenovo eitheryou get a beautiful machinethat works and goes or youget a lemon.. .. the thing is that with lenovo when you get alemon, they refuse to help you. I've now seen that a number of people have all told me after the fact that they know similar stories to mine. I bought a bunch of notebooks from lenovo for work uses and three of the five are lemons. the two that work, work great. The three that don't have given us repeated problems and customer service is terrible! It's a real shame but I think that we practically threw away $ 6K+ on these pieces of junk. Lenovo customer service is arrogant tells you they make the best machines and that they don't see that there are any problems, because you only spent 8 hours with their customer service people. Their records have to show you called tech support x number of times with y number of hours over a period of z number of days for it to be worth it to them to repair the unit. No one in my company has that much time to spend on each of our three lemon computers. Of course lenovo customer service is someplace in Canada and not looking at a computer that has now seven times frozen while you're working on an important deal for a client, so they can be as unresponsive as they want. I strongly suggest not buying anything from Lenovo. I just wish someone had told me that before I wasted money on five mostly non-functional laptops.

    Strengths: It's reliability and outstanding performance

    Overall Evaluation: I'm sorry, but your reviewer sounds like an idot, if he did not realize that the onboard NIC would be disabled when docked. All laptops funtion the same way. Also, there is a DVD burner available for this unit, again I do not know where your reviewer is getting his info from. The reason you buy an ultra protable is for mobility, not because it has an internal optical drive. That is not a necessity for thos who purchase these, as we are road warriors. We can do without one.

    Duration of ownership:

    Strengths: easy to carry, solid and with 8 cell battery, you don't need to worry about any problem of watching DVD on vacations.

    Weaknesses: a little bid overheat on the right handy part. LCD is a drawback for thinkpad.

    Overall Evaluation: A lot of laptops takes brightview or truelife as their standard while barely progress in LCD is seen with thinkpad. After years of development in outward design, I don't see much improvement in its quality comparing its price.

    Strengths: Small form factor

    Weaknesses: Bottom right area gets TOO HOT to be used as a Palm rest

    Overall Evaluation: I have tried disabling the built in wireless (Wi-Fi, Bluetooth etc) hardware with no benefit to reducing the heat being generated in the right palm rest area where the IBM ThinkPad Logo is. I have even tried putting a cloth pad but even that heats up in no time. If this were not a corporate machine I would have sent it back in a heartbeat.

    Weaknesses: WAY TOO HOT ON THE RIGHT PALM

    Overall Evaluation: I sent it back after two days. I was afraid to leave it turned on in fear it would burn the house down.My right hand still hurts - I think it's cooked.Another fine product from China.

    Strengths: - Very nice keyboard- Core Duo processor for advance application- Slim package, light weight, easy to carry around to the meeting, etc.- Nice full size keyboard. The best one so far...-

    Weaknesses: - A little warm on palm resting area when use wireless card- The resolution could be better, so far max only 1024 * 768- Noisy HD

    Overall Evaluation: Overall this notebook delivered. I've been using this laptop for about 3 months will all satisfied. I'm a bit disappoint with the max res of 1024*768, but considering the size and weight, this is a pretty nice deal for me. Besides, I can use an external monitor if I need to do my graphic works. I've search the web for warm surface problem, but it seems to be varied from sample to sample. My HD's temperature is around 38C, which is not so bad (according to "SpeedFan"). The bottom line is if you need ultra portable laptop that packs the punches and go places with you, this is by far the best bet.

    Strengths: The design is beautiful.

    Weaknesses: My machine didn't work properly. If your fingers are thin without deep sworls, it won't recognize your fingerprints.

    Overall Evaluation: My machine arrived defective. IBM repaired it and it was worse than before. They said if I bought it directly from them, they'd replace it, but since I bought it from an IBM authorized reseller, I had to go through the distributor (PC Wholesale) who said their agreement with IBM said problems under warrantee were between the buyer and IBM. After several calls, they sent a new part to the reseller who installed it and it worked for about an hour. Many calls and emails later, they finally agreed to accept the return through the distributor. I still don't have my money back. If they don't want to deal with their resellers, they shouldn't have resellers. Every step of the way, they said if I bought it directly through them, they would have replaced it right away. I ordered it nearly two months ago. I still didn't get the refund. Three weeks ago, I went to BJ's Warehouse and bought a Sharp M4000. I love it.

The unit replaces the ThinkPad X41, and while it leaves out a few features you'll find on comparable laptops--such as a built-in optical drive--it's still one of the best ultraportables you can buy.
