    Duration of ownership:

Strengths: sturdy, good performance, good customer support

Weaknesses: aesthetics may be too plain for some

Overall Evaluation: I've been using this laptop for more than a year. Being a student - mostly for programming, assignments, music and plenty of movies. I have been using the laptop quite extensively. leave it up running for a couple of days when I test a web server assignment. My display blacked out during the last week of my warranty but customer service replaced the part in three days. service was prompt, efficient & easy to contact.

Strengths: Battery Life. Keyboard. Xp pro

    Weaknesses: medicore LCD, 512MB RAM

Overall Evaluation: The battery life is really good and the keyboard is like Thinkpad, which feels really nice. XP pro is a much more efficient system than Vista. For a price like $400, it is a steal. My only compain is that LCD looks a little washed out. As for the ram, you might want to add another 512MB to make a total 1GB. Fortunately, nowadays the ram is dirty cheap . So it is not a big deal.

    Strengths: Solid, Sturdy, Inexpensive

Weaknesses: CPU is old-school. 1GB memory would be much better. LCD is not ultra bright

Overall Evaluation: I haven't been always looking for a inexpensive but sturdy laptop for my daily use. And I think C100 just fits my need. It doesn't have a fancy looking. But it is solid built. Everything works fine. I will need to add 512MB more memory so XP can run more smoothly. LCD is bright but not with the ultra bight technique. Overall, it is a good low-end laptop that can do most of the jobs.

Strengths: Lenovo quality, XP Pro, 15" screen

Weaknesses: Needs more RAM than what is included, media loads from front not side.

Overall Evaluation: This is an old model, but it still is more than acceptable for a mobile unit that is used for business tasks. Unless you are doing an exceptional amount of multitasking, or need this unit to display a lot of graphic intensive multimedia, it will suit most needs. It should have at least 1G of RAM to run XP quickly, and with prices so low, an upgrade of memory will be very inexpensive. All in all this suits my needs, the only thing I do not like is the placement of the optical drive.

    Duration of ownership:

Strengths: Low price, ThinkPad-like keyboard, keyboard is "ThinkPad-like" meaning it's a good keyboard, but not quite the same as a 7-row fully blown ThinkPad keyboard.

Weaknesses: Screen looks washed out, the oddly positioned front loading CD drive is annoying.

Overall Evaluation: This was a great bargain from Office Depot 390.00 after rebate. The look of the C100 isn't very striking, but the price point is very nice. The selection of ports is good. This is a basic notebook but it does the job for basic surfing and basic office applications.

What You Should Know about the 3000 C100

Not Much RAM for Multitasking

The more RAM your laptop has, the faster programs will run and the greater number of windows you can work in at one time. If your needs are simple and you rarely do more than two things at once on your PC, the relatively modest amount of memory that comes installed in inexpensive laptops will be enough. Today the standard amount of RAM shipped in most PCs is 2GB. If you like to multitask--say, you want to launch a search for a file and start backing up data to a disc while you watch a news video--you need more memory.
