What You Should Know about the XPS M1710

Not Much RAM for Multitasking

The more RAM your laptop has, the faster programs will run and the greater number of windows you can work in at one time. If your needs are simple and you rarely do more than two things at once on your PC, the relatively modest amount of memory that comes installed in inexpensive laptops will be enough. Today the standard amount of RAM shipped in most PCs is 2GB. If you like to multitask--say, you want to launch a search for a file and start backing up data to a disc while you watch a news video--you need more memory.

    Duration of ownership: 2 Months

Strengths: -amazing graphics -good and powerful sound -cool look -super sharp screen -LEDs on cover, speakers and fans

Weaknesses: -small keyboard for the computer size -battery life on full graphics mode -weight

Overall Evaluation: It's a perfect notebook for a gamer who does want to bring his high tech gaming station everywhere he wants ... well everywhere where there is a reachable power plug. I love it.

Strengths: Incredably good gaming product as stock

Weaknesses: Difficult to overclock properly, but can be done.

Overall Evaluation: It's pretty tough to overclock this thing properly, and she has her own personality I find, likes to make different sounds when I dont want her too. But for gaming shes right on the money. I can play FEAR with everything maxed and stock settings, I get 45fps. THAT IS AWESOME with EVERYTHING MAXED OUT!! Im gonna get it higher though. Max game res 1920x1200, max res FEAR 1900x1200.
