Strengths: picture quality, battery life, size, & most of all the price ( paid less than $300 3 MONTHS ago )
Weaknesses: low light resolution not the greatest
Overall Evaluation: I purchased the ELURA 100 after reading reviews on camcorderinfo.com & it had the ELURA 100 rated as the top camcorder from $0-$1000's camcorders. I have used it to video all of my son's HS basketball games using the wide screen with superb results. I've had to record OT games & still had plenty of battery power left. For ease of use, great picture quality, & price, I don't feel that you can beat this product.

Strengths: size, price, wide screen, zoom settings, easy learning curve
Weaknesses: noise, motor noise, noise, noise, high pitched noise and noise, poor auto focus in low light, grainy pictures in low light
Overall Evaluation: great camera for the price, but the played back video is filled with a high pitched noise that's recorded from the motor or tape mechanism. If this is going to be an investment for a long time you will have to live with noisy audio. its terrible, and I have not experienced such a noise in any camera before.NOISE all the way.....focusing is slow and cant keep up with zoomlow light video is grainyI think canon should call this off from the market. No wonder it sells so cheap for its specs.

Strengths: Price. AV > DV converter. Widescreen (16x9). Size.
Weaknesses: Low-light performance. Design.
Overall Evaluation: For the price, it was worth it. It takes great pictures outdoors and the widescreen is nice. Many other cameras in this price range does not take a true widescreen. This one does. I like the AV>DV converter. Again other cameras don't have this feature. Now i can convert treasured analog vhs tapes into digital and put them on dvd discs. The design is nice and compact, but I didn't like the handstrap. It feels awkward holding the camera. It didn't feel like it was natural like I do with other camcorders. The performance of the camera at low-light was also poor. The picture became very grainy and dark. The 2-led lights that you can turn on was pretty much useless more than 2 feet and it gave a bluish tinge on the picture.Overall, I'm still happy with the camera. Just use it on bright, outdoor events.

Strengths: Spacious LCD, Small form factor, quality video
Weaknesses: 20x zoom (could be more)
Overall Evaluation: I upgraded from a bulky sony digital8 camcorder so I really appreciate the small form factor of Elura 100. I like the fact that it's tiny enough to fit in my palm. Video quality is good enough for my usage, and the sizable lcd screen is great while shooting. I haven't experienced the noisy motor as reported by other reviewers. My only wish is that this camcorder come with a higher optical zoom (my older Sony was 25x). Overall, I feel that Elura 100 is the best value camcorder in its price range.

Strengths: Video performance, size, weight, style
Weaknesses: Low light performance could be better but still ok.
Overall Evaluation: Nice little camera, good video performance (as expected). Didn't notice any extra noise, but may be just didn't try in a really quiet environment. The controls have different layout compared to ZR45MC I had before, but it's quite easy to get used to it. Good thing there is an integrated lens cap, bad thing you have to remember open and close it manually (just wonder why they didn't implement it to open automatically the moment you turn the camera on in recording mode and close when the camera is turned off). Low light performance is acceptable but i think the external LEDs are useless in most cases.
