Dell's UltraSharp 2407WFP, as retested under our new protocols (see "How We Test"), still does not disappoint). This 24-inch model fared well in the PC World Test Center, where our jury viewed and rated a series of screen shots of text, graphics, and photo-based documents at the monitor's default factory settings. Jurors praised the Dell's crisp text and overall image quality, but also noted a faintly green cast to white screens.

Dell UltraSharp 2407WFP
UltraSharp 2407WFP 24 Review, by Tom Mainelli and Laura Blackwell September 27, 2006
Nicely priced at $719 (as of 8/17/06), this Dell is one of the least expensive 23- or 24-inch wide-screen monitors we've seen lately. It doesn't hold down its price by skimping on features, though. Its sleek industrial design includes a thin black bezel and a silver stand that lets you tilt, pivot, and raise or lower the monitor.
The 2407WFP has a plethora of video connections (DVI, VGA, composite, component, and S-Video), plus support for HDCP (high-bandwidth digital copy protection). The latter is a bit of future-proofing, as coming high-definition media such as Blu-ray and HD DVD discs may require an HDCP-compliant monitor for optimal viewing of content. Also included are picture-in-picture functions, a 9-in-2 media card reader, and four USB 2.0 ports.
Among the adjustable settings on Dell's on-screen menu are three display modes: desktop, multimedia, and gaming. Earlier this year, Dell customers complained of image-quality issues when using the desktop mode on early production runs of the 20-inch 2007WFP. Dell claims to have fixed the problem, and we didn't encounter such image-quality issues with our test unit.

Strengths: Size, performance, price.
Weaknesses: None seen. There have been reports of problems with the glass in early models. Check Dell forum for more info.
Overall: A03 version - Mexico assembly Nvidia 7600GT (256MB) - dual Out of the box, the monitor is physically and technically flawless. Not a single dud pixel to be found. Running in "desktop" preset mode. I have not played with any settings other than to reduce the brightness (to 40%). Default is VERY bright. The 2407 is running next to an NEC/Mitsubishi and it makes the latter model look practically dingy. Some tweaking will have to be performed, but overall I am very pleased. I am not a gamer. Response times and performance under stress are not considered. The unit is destined for desktop work. I considered the purchase to be a capricious one at first (on sale - Dell Canada), but not now. Recommended.

Strengths: Connectivity is marvelous, the screen looks beautiful, warcraft 3 looks wonderful on it, the resolution is to die for, and the price is wonderful. I bought it from a Dell Direct Store.
Weaknesses: Warcraft 3 does not have a widescreen mode, upsetting, but the monitor is perfect.
Overall: Buy it, its a great price for what your getting, I dual screened it with a viewsonic 19" flat screen CRT, the difference is rediculous. Dont even go for an anolog monitor in comparison to this one.

Strengths: card reader slots, off axis viewing still looks great, nice and bright, good color, no dead pix
Weaknesses: nothing so far
Overall: I bought this as a replacement/upgrade from a Samsung syncmaster 204B. It's been like night and day. The Dell is so much nicer and well worth the extra money. I couldn't trust anything I saw on the Samsung. Even moving my head around slightly would dramatically change the gamma of the image. Not so with the Dell. As a digital artist working with 3D software and photographic composites, this is a big deal to me.

Strengths: Crispy clear picture. Excelent DVD player.Several video inputs. Built-in USB hub.
Weaknesses: None
Overall: This is my first Dell monitor ever. I use it for my computer and to play my cable box. I found is the best monitor available in the market for quality, features and the money. Can't go wrong.

Strengths: Excellent color, brightness, and contrast.
Weaknesses: USB ports on the left side of the display. Would prefer them on the right side.
Overall: Very impressive display. Great value for the price. Outstanding picture quality. Less than half the price and a quarter of the weight of the high end CRT it replaced and has a better picture.

Strengths: Size - perfect; Images - sharp, clear; Text - Incredibly sharp and easy to read
Weaknesses: Really none that I can list at this time
Overall: Everything about this monitor works well. When I first received it, the drivers for it didn't work 100% with my graphics card but I'm not sure if that was the problem of my graphics card, Microsoft Windows or Dell. Be sure to download the latest drivers and you will love this monitor. Fortunately, that problem was corrected within about 60 days of me writing Dell to see if they had a fix (the monitor worked, it just kept resetting the font size every time I turned on my computer). Like I said, that was probably a problem with Microsoft as much as the monitor!I use my Dell primarily for online homework and spreadsheets both, two applications which make text-crispness/clarity a priority. I cannot say enough about how crisp the text is on this screen. The ability to adjust the background "white" was a great help (the default setting was too bright).Playing videos is incredible at whatever resolution you choose. Although the monitor setup isn't "easy" it wasn't a nightmare either. I'd buy another one in a heartbeat at the price I originally paid ($725.00 +S/H) so the current prices are a STEAL.

Strengths: Good picture, none of the banding issues people reported, good features, good price, all around excellent.
Weaknesses: Very few except that it doesn't go dim enough!
Overall: At £640 when most 24" screens are at least £100 more than that, this was a bargain. The image quality is fantastic compared to my seemingly good Viewsonic G90f+ CRT. No banding issues (I think I have the A02 but others say not even that is good enough, all I can say is no banding have I spotted!), the USB hub and memory card reader are very useful. 5 inputs which is nice, and picture in picture works well, even if i wish you could do a little more with PBP. At night with no lights on the monitor can sometimes dazzle even at 0 brightness, if you're in a game with a bright section, you may want some ambient lighting in case you get a headache. Gets warm but not too warm, so it doesn't bother me. Tonnes of vertical adjustment, rotation, just about everything!
