While it's no iPod, Sony Ericsson's W810 does a more-than-adequate job as both a cell phone and a multimedia player.

Sony Ericsson W810
W810 Cell Phone (GSM, Bluetooth, 2MP, 20MB, Memory Stick PRO) Review, by Liane Cassavoy August 16, 2006
The W810 is a candy bar-style standard cell phone, and at first glance its dimensions of 3.9 by 1.8 by 0.8 inches make it look somewhat boxy. It works well in light use, offering adequate voice quality and volume, but it can be uncomfortable during long conversations. It offers impressive talk-time battery life, as it lasted 10 hours in our lab tests (the maximum amount of time we test).
The W810 is the latest addition to Sony Ericsson's Walkman line of phones, and its impressive roots are on display--its music and multimedia features, including an FM radio, really set it apart. When you start up the phone, you're given the choice between launching just the Walkman functions or all of the phone's features. The W810 also automatically pauses songs when you receive an incoming call, and resumes them when you hang up.
The W810 comes with its own PC software for transferring songs onto the included 512MB Memory Stick Duo card. The software is simple to use, though unfortunately it does not let you create playlists on your PC--you can do that on the phone, but it isn't as easy as it could be. A 2-megapixel camera and Memory Stick Duo slot round out the features.
I have one minor complaint about the W810, regarding its navigation controls. Sony packs a lot of features--including the music player controls--into a small space. The controls are tiny, and the limited real estate leaves no room for dedicated send and end phone buttons. I adjusted to the controls quickly, and I was able to scroll through my music collection in no time, but the device's layout left me longing for the minimalist look of my iPod.
The W810 doesn't come cheap; an unlocked handset will cost you $500. (We tested a handset from Cingular; the carrier is expected to offer the phone by September for the same price.) But if you're in the market for a cell phone that doubles as a digital music player, the W810 is worth a look.

Strengths: Very good reception for most calls. Clear voice both receiving and out going. Good sound quality for the MP3 player both on the headset and on the speaker. Great photo quality in a phone.
Weaknesses: Needs more memory for the MP3 player. To small of a screen. Phone could be bigger in size to allow for larger screen. Key pad to small to use easily and quickly.
Overall: Over all best little phone I have ever used with so many features. The phone seems to be rugged well built and designed for the average user. It has for the most part a pleasant look and design. Only real limitations is the size of the memory for MP3 player and camera. I took a lot of time trying out many different phones in cell phone stores. The Sony Walkman was the best price for the most features. My carrier is ATT so far there have been no problems with the phone or the carrier's service. As a Real Estate Appraiser I need reception as the number one feature but also need a back up camera with good quality photos that really worked easily to down load photos. The Sony Walkman has provided all of these needs.

Overall: Best phone ever, just improve the battery life!

Strengths: EVERYTHING
Weaknesses: People want to steal it
Overall: I also forgot I baught these little tiny speakers that attach to the phone for about 30$. When I got home and plugged them in they were the loudest little speakers I have ever seen. When ever I am at my friends house or with a group of people I plug them in and we start listening. They are so small and loud I can put them in my coat pocket and listen easily. They run off the phone's battery and last for about 4 hours on full blast. I also forgot to mention all the camera functions like negative, sepia, black & white colour settings, panorama pictures (super wide), different frames, shutter sounds, photo light, auto focus, and how you hold the phone sideways just like a camera. Also if there is a function you use often there is a dedicated short sut button where you can add and change a list of your selected phone short cuts. The bluetooth is great I can send my friend a 6 MB song in less than 2 minutes. Some great features are the music DJ so you can make your own ringtone, photo DJ so you can makes pictures different styles (frosted glass, cartoon, painting, solarized), and video DJ so you can make crazy videos with sound and picture clips. I have the whole season 3 of family guy on my phone too and you can change it so you watch the video in fullscreen horizontal mode for excellent picture quality. I still don't have anything bad to say about this phone except how jealous everyone is about your phone and they try to make their stupid Razrs and D606s compare to it & if you break the headset it's gonna cost 90$ to replace it so be careful.

Strengths: compact and durable design, sound is excellent especially with the supplied headset, great battery life
Weaknesses: camera is prone to scratches (no cover) aside from that, no more.
Overall: this is an excellent phone. i really love the crisp and clear sound plus their MEGABASS technology, the music experience is at its peak. i like the 4 way navigation keys rather than joystick. keypads are very good as well as the display. the most adorable about this phone is its battery life which surpasses my expectations. it clearly surpasses the power of my nokia(N82) and samsung(D500) phones before this.

Strengths: music player, mp3 and FM, flash light, UI, battery life
Weaknesses: call volume, camera, various other small flaws.
Overall: This is overall an excellent phone that comes highly recommended. The phone simply has everything you would want from a phone and it does it right. However, there are many small annoyances that you should consider. -The camera is not that great. It's 2mp, but pictures don't compare to a real 2mp digicam. Pictures come out kind of grainy. -Video resolution is very low. Very disappointing compared to other phones out there. -Call volume sometimes seems low. The speaker phone is kind of low too, but it's not always a problem. -To set mp3 files as the ringtone, you have to somehow crop the file to an acceptable length before putting it into the phone. -No dedicated Send or Hang Up buttons. It is not intuitive and sometimes gets confusing. -Doesn't record the length of previous calls. -Home screen shows the date but not the day of the week. -Connecting to PC is kind of buggy. -When you connect it to PC, it makes you lose all call history. -The boxy design makes longer calls uncomfortable on the ear. -No way (that i could find) to delete built in mp3s. They get into the mp3 player's rotation and are annoying. Overall, these flaws are annoyances, but not deal breakers. Other than that, the phone does everything else very well. It's simply a good, solid phone.

Strengths: 2MPix Camera, Memory Stick Pro up to 2GB, Great Walkman, Stylish, USB, Radio, Bluetooth, Infrared, LED flasher
Weaknesses: Screen just dimms but does not turn off during a call. Low ear piece volume. Navigation keys' chrome paint goes off after few months. No Camera lense cover. Low quality video compared to still image.
Overall: Well this is a good work by Sony Ericsson! The 2MPix camera is capable of capturing great still pictures, and the support of the flasher LED is not bad, but the video capturing quality is not that impressive compared to the still image quality. I believe N70 has a better video capture capability though both N70 and W810i has 2Mpix cams. Great phone display quality, much much better than K750 & W800. No lens cover, that is a terrible thing not to have! The external memory can go up to 2GB which is great where you can store lot of songs and files. Even you can use this as a Bluetooth or USB flash drive and it's very handy. Battery capacity is massive, you wouldn't run out of power easily. The music player, the radio and the earphone quality is fantastic! Trust me, it's the best.. even better than the new K800. >> One problem of this phone is that the screen backlit does not turn off during a call, which makes no sense at all. And I feel it drains the battery slightly more in long conversations. I found a mini solution for this. During a call, you may navigate to messages and open a text message. Then the backlit will go off. >>The phone's ear piece volume is bit low compared to the Nokia I had before. The chrome finish of the navigation keys went off after few months & I hated to see that happening. Final thoughts, it's a good phone. Massive capabilities. Recommended.

Strengths: Easy to use, nice menu, fuctions...
Weaknesses: Sound does not come clear off speaker, low volume.
Overall: When I saw this phone I thought it looked great. So I looked at its fuctions, camera feature, mp3 player, menu, everything cool. So I purchased it. However, something really bothers me now which also dropped the rating of this phone from 5 stars to 3. This phone is blowing the other speakers. I am working with a computer all the time and no matter how far I push this phone in my cube it still interferes with the computer's speakers. So annoying. And the the signals are very strong and sizzlings are very loud. My previous samsung phone caused no noise at all.I am also concerned that I carry my cell phones in my pocket. I hope it wont cook my eggs.
