User Reviews for Samsung SGH-D807 Cell Phone

Strengths: Aesthetically pleasing to look at. Single handed open/close. MP3 player, MicroSD card slot, battery life

Weaknesses: Volume, volume, volume No predictive text.

Overall Evaluation: Overall, I would say this phone is..........well.......okay. I really like the look of it, but am quickly learning that looks aren't everything. I bought this primarily to be a cell phone and nothing else. Thing is, the volume is so low, that you can barely hear the person on the other end if you're in a slightly noisy environment (car, restaurant, etc.). That defeats the purpose of a cell phone. I am a Blackberry user and bought the D809 for weekend use. Well, I'm still within my 30 day grace period, so I may be looking into trading it for a SYNC A707, which had excellent reviews. I'll review it in the future. All in all, if you want a cell phone that you can actually hear from, don't buy this one. And, oh yeah,............Blackberry Rules! LOL

Strengths: good large screen. long battery life. plenty of the latest features.i.e. bluetooth, video recorder, camera, voice recognition,chat,mp3 player. etc. etc.etc.

Weaknesses: my biggest complaint is the SOUND. i often find myself wishing i could turn up the volume in my cell phone conversations even though the volume is on MAX. furthermore, default tunes when u slide the bar up or down are just AWFUL. and u can't upload/download tunes to change that. also wallpaper CUSTOMIZATION sucks. u upload/download really pretty wallpaper right ??? but then BAAM Samsung throws in this MASSIVE clock pic or a Text time/date. which covers 30% of the wallpaper. ummm, hello people in Samsung can u throw in a little toggle which can turn that off ??? some people like to SEE their wallpaper ! and lastly, YES the buttons are all so smooth and laced together so tightly that hitting the wrong key WILL happen 99.9%

Overall Evaluation: this is an alright cellphone. HOWEVER, for the $$$ spent get a UNLOCKED Samsung T-809. this cellphone version is for T-Mobile. while the Samsung D-807 is for Cingular. Anyways, the T-809 addresses the Sound issue. u also get a better mp3 player with equalizer options. and u get cooler tunes when u slide your bar up and down. however the keypad issue/physical infrastructure remains the same. and u will hit the wrong keypad often. moving along... i bought the D-807 ASSUMING that it would be just like the T-809. Thinking both made by Samsung should be offering similar services. . WROOONG !!!! I have cingular coverage and i made a huge PRESUMPTION which now i regret. my advice if your a fan of slider phones. get a Samsung T-809 UNLOCKED !

Weaknesses: Attracted to fingerprints and dirt

Overall Evaluation: I love the phone but the it attracts fingerprints and dirt which I hate a lot. But the phone is pretty sleek and light. It's a good choice to people who must check there e-mail. Worth buying.

Strengths: Slider provides single hand operation

    Weaknesses: Reception

Overall Evaluation: This comment comes from someone who was looking for the basics, but wanted to include a better camera. I got over my phone's default of always wanting to go on line and charge me extra to shop by just disconnecting the internet option. I'm having a very hard time getting over the poor reception. In this case there are fewer bars in fewer places! I have never had so many dropped calls. It fails to match the quality or reception of my old tech analog phone. It also does not match the the reception or quality of a considerably less expensive Samsung flip phone product that my wife has and was featured in buy one-get one free ads. I have had minimal reception or dropped calls throughout my house and in a condo on a recent trip. Testing 12 different locations in my home by a conversation with a land-line phone, this unit had less signal strength than the cheaper Samsung model. On the trip, my calls dropped so frequently that I used the other phone. I would not recommend it and I'm sorry that I got it!

Strengths: Big Screen, Slider Phone, MicroSD slot, Great Design, Perfect Size and Weight, good battery life

Weaknesses: Cannot upload games Via Bluetooth, Hard to get to #1,2,3 on the keypad, not loud enough, backlight doesn't turn off when charging, limited (very limited) support on sync with outlook calendar.

Overall Evaluation: The thing that annoys me most is the outlook calendar support. Samsung's PC Studio sucks, it will NOT sync any outlook recurring meetings to the phone. The recurring appointments on PC Studio doesn't have the flexibility of outlook (like recurring everyday except Monday, etc) Also the subject field is limited to a few characters. I've also tried MobileMaster, demo version, and it doesn't even support calendar for this phone. I'm not sure if this is Samsung or Cingular's problem but you CANNOT upload games to your phone Except via GPRS. you cannot upload any games using Bluetooth or data cable. Maybe Cingular is trying to get more $$ off bandwidth usage. Another problem with this phone is that the backlight will NOT turn off while you're charging the phone. It increases the charge time and it's annoying if you're charging your phone in your bedroom. Over all this is a nice phone with lots of features if you can live with the little bugs here and there.
