  Overall: This scanner produces high quality scans of documents and photographs. It can automatically detect the type of object being scanned and adjust the settings accordingly. Those good results come at a price, which is speed. The scanner is very slow compared to the Canon Lide90 and Visioneer 8900USB scanners I have used before.Button placement is odd. If you set up the scanner with the power and USB cables at the back, the scanner sits with the lid opening from the front, but the buttons are at the back right corner, oriented to the right side. That makes it difficult to press the buttons or see the legends.If you set up the scanner with the buttons at the right front corner with the legends facing you, the lid opens from left to right but the cables are at the right front of the scanner.Overall, a good scanner for the price.

  Weaknesses: the small size of scaaning area

  Overall: I've been using Epson printers for a long time, but this is the first time I bought an Epson scanner. As an amateur photographer, I have lots of negatives, which have not digitalized yet. This scanner is very useful to scan color, B&W negatives, and slides. The only complain I have is the flat scanning area is a little small for me; it is only 8.5"X11.7".
