Strengths: When all is up and running - It burns well. MANY different choices for burning. Great user-control over the program. FREE upgrades! This is one of the few companies that isn't flying around your pocket like a vultures ready for the feast.

Weaknesses: Dreadful interface that is had to weave through. Takes a while to learn the program.

Overall: Seeing that I have only gotten much-improved upgrades for free and it is getting more dependable, I can't chew into Nero on their product. When I 1st purchased it (last year) It did not work out of the box - so i had to download it from the site (not a happy time). Also, it seems to have less failures as Roxio. I will take a reliable program over a flashy one that charges you just for putting stickers on a box! Though, if roxio were more stable and didn't wanna charge for every thing it can - it would be dangerous.

Strengths: Performs simple tasks well (burning CDs and DVDs).

Weaknesses: Takes up unnecessary system resources.

Overall: While it might be a better option than Roxio, the more intricate parts of the software package are still less than spectacular. Some of the parts of the software suite can sometimes cause the program (and sometimes Windows Explorer) to crash. However, sometimes it works fine. Again, buggy but sometimes functional. If you're willing to use a halfway decent software package with a couple bugs, this is a decent option. It is still better than Roxio. FYI, don't attempt to use tech support; they're completely useless.

Strengths: Easy of use

Weaknesses: Might be to expensive if purchased a regular price.

Overall: First of all I was upgraded from 7 to 8 same price. After I installed the program, it was updated to latest version via the internet at no charge. It is to easy use. I can not think of any feature it lacks. Prior to Nero I was using Roxio 9.0 DE. Nero is easier to use than Roxio, and is able to convert AVI files on the fly. I am using Vista Home Premium, Nero 8 installed without a problem, Roxio needed patches .

Strengths: easy to use

Weaknesses: upgrade process slowed down the computer

Overall: This is the 1st time that I've ever owned a Nero product. I was amazed how efficient the software is. I could edit my video downloads, edit them and burn them to DVD. I also used it to rip my audio CD and make music mixes for MP3. The only problem was the upgrade process, which slowed down my computer.

Strengths: Can do almost anything with pictures/videos and cd/dvd coping. Great for backing up files. Easy to use.

Weaknesses: Updating is difficult. Must download a separate program to make changes to Nero

Overall: I have used Nero 6 in the past and updated to Nero 7. I will continue to use this program I and will update to Nero 8 in the future.

Overall: This is my first software cd/dvd burning software and I love it. It is easy to use and produces high quality with no bugs. Nero is the one for me and I highly recommend this software for anyone, beginner or advanced.
