In late 2006, Palm's Treo 700w received a quiet upgrade to the 700wx, which has the same design and runs the same OS but contains enhancements under the hood. Most notable is the RAM upgrade: With 48MB after a hard reset, the 700wx (available on the Sprint network) gives the user twice the available program memory that the 700w does, which goes a long way toward making the new Treo quicker to refresh screens and generally more responsive.

Palm Treo 700wx
Treo 700WX Smartphone - Sprint (CDMA, Bluetooth, 1.3MP, 128MB, SDIO/MMC/SD) Review, by Christopher Null January 2, 2007
My few criticisms of this device are consistent with my gripes about other Windows Mobile-based Treos, revolving around the unit's unintuitive interface and the excessive number of taps and button presses required to launch any program that isn't reachable from the Today home screen. The 700wx includes the usual complement of Mobile Office applications. E-mail is perfectly serviceable through Mobile Outlook; but as with the 700w, typing much on the 700wx's keypad is difficult because the keys are slightly too big, too stiff, and too close together.
Physically the 700wx is almost identical to previous Treos, measuring 2.3 by 0.8 by 5.2 inches (width by depth by height) and weighing 6.2 ounces. Compared with the screens of other PDA phones on the market, however, its 2.5-inch, 240-by-240-pixel display (identical to that of the 700w) is somewhat dim. (The display on the Treo 700p does have a higher screen resolution of 320 by 320. See the discussion below for more on that model.)
The 700wx resembles other Treos in its phone capabilities, too. Its voice quality is average, but it performs nicely as a speakerphone or with the included headset. With a talk time of 5 hours, 28 minutes in our lab test, the 700wx's battery life is below average, but on a par with the longevity of other Treos we've tested.
On the other hand, the overall quality of the phone's nonmessaging features pleasantly surprised me. The Treo 700wx has a fantastic music player. Though it's not the highest-quality phone MP3 player, it's certainly the loudest: Listening was actually painful for me at the highest volume setting. Its 1.3-megapixel camera is of equally high quality: Photos taken indoors and outdoors came out well, better than most cell phone snapshots.
At $500 (with a two-year contract from Sprint), the 700wx carries the same price as the 700w from Verizon. Of the two, I definitely prefer the 700wx.

Strengths: So so phone
Weaknesses: Poor camera; internet capability very limited (read useless); poor MP3 player;
Overall: All I got is a clunker of a telephone. The capabilities I was sold just "ain't so". And on top of it all: Aliant staff know little or nothing about it or how to use it. Website is confusing and time consuming to navigate. Bottom line: I hate the thing!A week later, even the phone stopped working. My Treo was junk. I say was, because it's in pieces! Never will I buy a Palm product again.

Strengths: Loaded with features, big screen, good speed
Weaknesses: screen could be brighter
Overall: This is a great PDA phone. Thanks for the fast CPU, everything goes smoothly even when I am doing multi-task(listen to music, surf internet and chat at the sametime). The big screen is perfect for video playback. However, i wish it could be brighter cz' I can barely see anything in sunlights. Battery life is ok, depending on the usage. overall, I am very happy with this purchase.

Strengths: Faster internet, Windows, Use multiple programs simultaneously, Great battery life.
Weaknesses: Same design for the past three years, Not as much one hand accessibility (stylus) as previous models
Overall: I always like having the newest gadgets and such. I was very anxious to use this device. When it came and I used it for a day I was impressed. It is like having a computer and phone in one. The Microsoft office apps are a plus and the technology is better than previous. I especially like Windows Media Player 10. Voice Command is cool. I am still getting used to this device because I liked palm os but it is an upgrade.

Strengths: 1. Good PDA2. ActiveSync and Mobile Office3. Free Google Maps
Weaknesses: 1. No Wifi, not necessary, but nice.2. Small internal memory, 128MB only?3. Small keyboard, I can tolerate this.
Overall: I recently got this phone and love all the possible things you can do. Add a GPS, Wifi, Keyboard, Mouse, internet access for your laptop, media player, office suite, etc. Despite the snafu with transferring my line, I am generally pleased with the phone and service. I just wish some of the accessories and software are not as pricey as they are now.

There's nothing "smart" about a QWERTY keyboard taking up half the face of a phone, especially a PDA/phone combination. They're too small to really type on; and a waste of space. Far better the "pop-up" on-screen keyboard that's there when you need it, and not wasting screen space when you don't.

I have been using the European cousin of the E62 namely the E61 for some time. While it looks almost the same, this has several features that have been sadly crippled/removed in the E62 version. Differences can be found on websites that provide side by side comparisons. The main difference is the 3G and WLAN, which I find indispensable. That, plus the ability to use available utilities like Remote Desktop to connect to PC's and Servers and also to make VOIP calls over the WLAN. A pity that Nokia has been influenced to supply the E62 in the US rather than the more functional E61. Battery Life is excellent and I now find I need to spend less time in front of the real PC or laptop and can do more regular tasks on the hoof from wherever I happen to be. I also have an N80 which is also good, however for business productivity, functionality and ease of use, the E61 is hard to beat. I feel that the lack of WLAN in the E62 means that the main benefit that I have experienced has been removed.
