Duration of ownership: 4 Months
Strengths: This phone is a head turner, has a good reception capablity, best security features, big and clear screen and third party java softwares can be installed...plus the strong mechanism...it is a wow..
Weaknesses: not so good camera....i am not able to shoot the bright places...and the average sound quality..message storage restrictions...
Overall: Except looks, no one was appriciating this phone much. that is because of the lack of awareness. I say,.this is not a basic phone..it is a feature rich one, but you will have to find and use it, such as password protected directries for personal files, great short cuts, best third party softwares..(i have entire Bible in this fone and i am reading it.wow!) alarm is so good...message interface is great..having expandable memory..if you take snaps in sepia tones, that will be super good...and it looks like a bundle of joy to carry.Strong machanism, that can be campared with german engineering...you can flip it thousand times,,it is still strong! Moreover, Motorola got a second life in many countries by this one single fone, and Nokia lost much of a market share because of this one tiny miracle! We thought motorola's chapter is over in India, they have proved us wrong...they stand tall...

Strengths: Looks Cool
Weaknesses: No 2gb micro SD Support. Not User Friendly. Have to purchase data Kit to transfer information to phone even though the plug is a standard USB.
Overall: According to the documentation that came with the phone and the Motorola web site the phone says it supports microSD cards. In fact the phone will only support microSD cards up to 1GB. I just got off the phone with motorla tech support and according to them there isn't and never will be phone support for cards larger than 1gb. They said it was a hardware limitation of the phone, but I know for a fact that this is a software limitation. I had a Nokia phone that supported reduced size MMC cards and the phone would initially only support a 256MB card, but with a software update on the phone it was able to support a 1GB card. To me this is entirely false advertising, the documentation needs to be changed on all vendors sites and in the user manual to say supports up to 1gb microSD cards.

Strengths: RAZR style with a CNC machining flair, excellent call quality and iTunes features.
Weaknesses: Can't shave my beard. Lacks the "record only" feature the V3 had.
Overall: Wow! I didn't really know what an upgrade could be made from my already excellent RAZR V3. The V3i improves Video recordings to a length of of just over 30 seconds - up from the ten seconds the V3 offered. The memory just went through the roof! With 13 Mb. of "built-in" available over the the 7 Mb. the V3 had - and the V3i iTunes from Cingular comes with an additional 512 Mb. of SanDisk MicroSD TransFlash installed. That means the user can even upgrade to 2 Gb! The supplied 512 Mb. card allows for 6.5 hours of music - 100 songs in stereo! The sound of the music with stereo headphones is just great. The iTunes software CD is also supplied and will convert you MP3s to needed formats for shuffle, play by artist, album, songs, or playlists. (you can still add MP3s unchanged) Set the phone to play iTunes and just close the flip cover and slide it in your pocket. The supplied mini USB adapter, for headphones, will enable your favorite headphones - or you can use the supplied mini USB "ear-buds" with their mic for taking calls. (music can be paused for this) Incredibly, the speakers on the V3i aren't bad at all for music, just not the best. The speakers are great however, for calls. Yes, 100 songs to 512 Mb. of memory and you still have room for pictures and more! (100 songs takes up only about 370 Mb.) The camera is a 1.2 Mega-Pixel model with 8X zoom, and it is capable of taking some very nice pictures. Video is about the same as before, but there are added control features for both - negative filters and colors are only a few, and pictures done at 8X in sunlight are of good quality and better than those using the older V3. Call quality using the 800/900/1800/1900 GSM bands is just as great as it was in the updated software model of the previous V3, but the new battery (BR-50) makes a difference for the better in standby and in-call times - reducing charge times needed. GSM data is GPRS - with EDGE available in 3G areas. So, real time TV can be viewed if you add the feature to your package in 3G areas. Four games are also installed to kill some time when needed. The phone book is the same again, but with a twist - this phone has all the features the PEBL added. Voice recognition and Voice Commands make the V3i a fast dialer of stored or spoken phone numbers - and features like camera, voicemail, redial, and received calls. Don't forget this one also shares the same FAX and PRINTER features the PEBL had if you need them. I lost my PEBL, preferring the V3 style, but not before I returned to using my older V3. The V3i just annihilated the PEBL completely. Computer ready with the mini USB to standard USB cable included, this V3i iTunes "has it all". Motorola Mobile Phone Tools works well with this model also, but you will need to keep up with the provided Apple iTunes software. It initiates automatically when you use the USB connection. So, use your Motorola Mobile Phone Tools software with the Bluetooth connection only to prevent system hangs. Killer new looks and features make the V3i iTunes phone what everyone wanted in the original RAZR V3.

Strengths: Outstanding feature set (MP3 playback, voice recognition, 1.2 MP camera, micro SD slot).
Weaknesses: Unlocked international version has British english language pack, so voice recognition expects a British accent, and sometimes fails to understand my North East American dialect. Internet settings do
Overall: Overall it is a great phone, and a huge upgrade to the original RAZR. I like the phone, and would recommend it - although as always there are some trad-offs (see Strenghts and Weaknesses). Also, Internet settings don't allow access to the Cingular MEdia Net, and apparently that can't easily be fixed without reflashing the phone to the Cingular/iTunes firmware.
