With strong image quality and a pleasant design, the HP LP1965 is a fine 19-inch monitor for home or office use.

HP's LP1965, the company's latest 19-inch monitor, performed well in our image quality tests. Jurors noted crisp lettering in a Microsoft Word document, and sharp, well-defined lines in a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet. The display also rendered graphics well, with bright, realistic colors and skin tones in photographs and on a Web site.

The attractive design includes a silver stand and a smooth black bezel. Making adjustments is a breeze--the LP1965 tilts, swivels, and pivots with ease; and it holds steady without any bobbling if the desk it's sitting on gets jostled.

HP stores Pivot Pro software and the monitor's documentation on a single CD. The manual includes detailed descriptions of setup and installation, plus explanations of how to make on-screen adjustments. One appealing software extra is a program called Lite Saver, which allows you adopt power settings, should you wish to have the monitor switch off after a certain amount of time (minutes or hours) when it's not in use. And at $339 (as of January 12, 2007), the LP 1965 is reasonably priced.

All in all, with its solid image quality and easy adjustability, the LP1965 should satisfy most users looking for a reliable, easy-to-use 19-inch display.

    Weaknesses: none

Overall Evaluation: I would like to add to my previous comments. There are at least 4 different ways to adjust the color. On screen. with the video card, with HP Display Assisstant and the best and hardest to find- color calibration found under plug ins with Display Assistant. None of the first 3 work as well as the last. Strange that it is not publicized. HP Display LItesaver works just fine. Adjust the settings to have the monitor OFF at all times and then keep it on for whatever time you want after any new activity. The pivot software isn't worth the trouble. I first had to download a new video card driver and the picture pivots just fine. HOWEVER, the mouse always goes in the wrong direction!. All told, a superb product for the price. I got it in 1 day from an HP online reseller with a $55 discount.
