JVC JVC GZ-MG155 30GB Hard Drive Camcorder
JVC Everio GZ-MG155 Review
- The sleek and intuitive Everio GZ-MG155 ($600 as of April 26, 2007) fits comfortably in your hand, in part because it stores files on a 30GB hard drive rather using a bulky DVD drive. Of course, that arrangement means that you have to transfer files to a PC for backup in order to make room for newer video on the camcorder. No problem: The GZ-MG155 supports one-button transfer to of video files to your PC. You can also hook it up directly (via USB cable) to a computer-based DVD burner to create backups, bypassing the PC entirely.

Strengths: easy menu, good picture quality,no need of disc or tapes, reasonable price
Weaknesses: poor picture quality in low light, illumination light rarely help almost ineffective, lack of optical stabilisation, digital stabilisation is not effective like optical stabilisation of panasonic.poor still photo
Overall Evaluation: I am using this camcorder since nov 2007.Its menu are easy and no need to preserve disc or tapes as it has 30gb hard drive.good optical zoom of 34x. I have purchased extra battery of jvc brand 823 which last for almost 4 hrs. bottom line is that you need extra battery, poor still photo, lack of optical stabilisation, for using 34x zoom you need tripod, I would suggest panasonic sdr h 200 in this place as it has 3 ccd system and O.I.S.which this jvc has not.

Strengths: small, not so expensive, HDD 7 hours video in SP
Weaknesses: DIS doesn't help much - have to use tripod, compression brings artifacts for any motions, AF depends on light conditions, built in Lamp doesn't help at all. Long start up time. Battery dries in a hour
Overall Evaluation: Overall it's a good camera that uses HDD, where you have plenty of space, but battery put limit on it.Even it can run for more then hour on included battery in real life you can't make 1 hour recording as you stop / start recording from time to time, but have to keep camera on it would result in 30 min total recording time. So, make sure you have charger with you all the time or extra battery. Now, about DIS - it helps, but not much. You have to use tripod if you want to get good video.1 mp camera image is very bad, after I took two shots I stopped using it, even my cell phone does it with better quality - so don't count on it.I don't know why I don't have many colors as I liked, could be due to run time compression to mpeg2! Again what do you expect from $500 camera. But, that's $500 anyway - so I'd like to get better video quality at this price.I hope you'll get better luck with this camera.
