Sony VAIO Micro PC VGN-UX390N Review

- In designing its VAIO Micro PC VGN-UX390N, Sony has condensed a standard notebook computer into a device only a little larger than--and about twice the weight of--a BlackBerry. And it did a good job, with two critical exceptions: The 4.5-inch display is too small for easy viewing even at arm's length, and a finger on the keyboard is a typo waiting to happen. If you plug in an external monitor, a keyboard, and a mouse, however, you'll see the better half of the UX390N's split personality: An ultramobile PC that's right at home on your desktop.

    Duration of ownership:

Strengths: Small, Micro, Cool! Runs on Vista smoothly, integrated many useful techs. The most powerful PC in this size. 32GB solid-state hard drive does not make noise.

Weaknesses: The keyboard are not comfort, only one shift key; anyway it is a hand writing device.

Overall Evaluation: I brought it last week and it is a nice portable computing gadget. 1024x600 screen shows every detail, and the 2 cameras are quite useful in different situation. If it has integrated GPS it will be a plus. The touch screen is sensitive, you can write in normal speed. To my astonishment, it runs vista quite well. You can do most stuff in desktop, but you do need a healthy eye. The device get hot if been used for 2 hours, and the fan start being noisy. However, you cannot get a better one.

    Strengths: works

    Weaknesses: too many to list...

Overall Evaluation: Vista runs on this, but it runs extremely too slow. .. I wiped the HD, and installed Linux which works but the joystick mouse also acts as a right click... Unless you feel like dragging/dropping everything on your desktop I do not recommend this. I then wiped it and attempted to install XP, which then blue screened... Worst laptop that I've ever owned tbh... Don't waste your time or money until they have addressed this!
