    Duration of ownership: 4 Months

Strengths: Ease of use. Plenty of features.

Weaknesses: Very slow to warm up at start-up and to print a first page or single page. Mangles envelopes. Black and color are light even when adjustments are set for highest quality.

Overall Evaluation: I wish I had believed other reviews that mentioned the envelope issue. How can one manage a small office without the ability to print an envelope? Thankfully I kept the old HPLaser Jet which has been a tremendous workhorse for years but running up and down stairs for a single envelope is more than irritating.

Strengths: Very nice prints. Easy to operate. Scanned images of great quality. Built-in fax and PC Fax are straightforward.

Weaknesses: No auto duplex. Heavy and comes with a very big box. I heard the toners and drums are very expensive.

Overall Evaluation: I've problem installing the scanner driver. Finally got it worked after three tries and reboots. I discovered I have to use Brother TWAIN, not MS windows. Otherwise, the setup is a breeze. The color prints from FINE mode with regular paper is only about 20% better resolution than the STANDARD (NORMAL)mode. I expected more. Anyway, the normal mode is quite decent and I think I can settle with this. I've not tried using photo paper for photo prints. Some mention the quality is much better using color inkjet.

    Duration of ownership:

Strengths: Easy setup; fast printing; initial (cold) start up not too bad (but does take a minute or two); nice scanning; clear, crisp copies/prints; color copies/prints are decent. Good faxing capability.

Weaknesses: Is heavy (make sure you have a sturdy table and help to lift the machine); toner and other items (e.g., drum) are not cheap. Small paper tray.

Overall Evaluation: Overall, this is a decent machine, especially for the price. You could easily pay double the amount for other machines that pretty much do the same tasks and have the same quality. Machine comes with standard toner; make sure you purchase the high-yield toner when those run out. If you're going to use this machine for a lot of copying/printing, then you'll likely spend a lot of money for replacements (e.g., toner, drum, etc.). If you just use the machine for basic home use and a very small business, then it should work out well for you. For my purposes, things work out quite nicely.A word about Provantage:Excellent company! I have bought many items from them over the years and I am ALWAYS satisfied! Provantage offered a good deal on this machine and I had the item 3 days after I purchased it (and that was with standard, ground shipping). So, thank you Provantage for another great transaction!

Strengths: Beautiful color prints and copies. Easy setup and easy to use.

Weaknesses: 1st page slow to print. No auto duplex

Overall Evaluation: After reading positive reviews, I bought this machine with high expectations. This machine has met all of them. The color output is fabulous. Breeze to get out of the box (by myself) and setup on my home network. Software installation easy, but it automatically self-reported an error setting up scanning (scanner driver failed)on both computers on network, but scanning seems to work fine. Software easy to use as well.Beautiful color prints and copies! However the first page is very slow to print. Once it's warmed up, it prints quickly, so this slow start-up is probably not an issue with a larger office where more people are using it(I am the only person who uses it). Easy to use and navigate the LCD. I wish it had auto duplexing - that would make the machine perfect. Software does guide you through manual duplexing, though. I have yet to use the fax function or print photos from the PictBridge port. I highly recommend this all-in-one!
