Strengths: Good duplex scanning, prints are fast enough.

Weaknesses: Unstable while on network, multiple malfunctions.

Overall Evaluation: Let's see - often loses network, yellow faulty (print head needs to be taken apart and washed out with hot water), now error 6A80 (scanner jammed). It started off being a good machine with great duplex (double-side) scan ability, but in the end I now know it's a lemon. NOT an office machine. Probably good for home use. My old HP6110xi (5 years old) whips this completely.

Strengths: Print quality is great. Two paper trays is nice option. Works great over a network.

Weaknesses: Scan quality is average at best. Start up time is slow and it needs a lot of space. Software is not well integrated and not very intuitive. If there is a way to get the scanner to "know" to scan from feeder rather than platen without setting it up every time I can't find it. HP's sense something in feeder and do this automatically.

Overall Evaluation: Compared to the reviews, I have been disappointed and find it very much a very average printer/scanner.

    Strengths: Printing, copying.

    Weaknesses: Scaanner output is unusable.

Overall Evaluation: For someone who does not need a scanner it's great. From a sharp, contrasty black/white doc it outputs a fuzzy, gray/white doc or pdf file that is readable only at 125% magnification or higher. From a nice sharp 5x7 color print it outputs a soft-focus or out-of-focus scan with pretty good color, but for me unusable. The scanner cover cannot hold a magazine page against the platen, so large areas of the scan are washed out by scattered light. My digital point/shoot camera can make pix of documents at its lowest quality setting that are readable on the camera LCD and are far superior to the output of this ridiculous scanner.

Strengths: Good quality scanning and decent printing.

Weaknesses: A little slow, could use a bigger hopper to hold more paper.

Overall Evaluation: I do not use printers all that much so this printer is perfect for me. It has good quality scanning and printing all in one and at an affordable price. Perfect for home use!

Strengths: Excellent print quality, fast printing and scanning and faxing

    Weaknesses: None so far..

Overall Evaluation: I bought this for my neice and nephew who both just started university because it is a printer which offers great print quality for their assignments. So far, they have not been disappointed with the performance. That is a good thing as it was cheaper than the alternative - a laser printer. It also has the benefit of scanning and printing photos for the facebook generation who are both constantly living the digital life, and it comes in useful when they realize that they need to have a physical copy and not everything is digital. My brother loves the fax and tells me that he is happy with it and it works well.

    Strengths: Lots of functions

Weaknesses: Fascist approach to ink cartridges. Mediocre color output quality.VERY dissapointed long-time Canon fan.

Overall Evaluation: I am SO sad and angry at Canon. I am a LONG time loyal Canon fan. I have several of there DSLR camera, copiers and prints and I have found their products to be well-designed, quality and reliable products. *** Shocked to see Canon use such underhanded tactics to FORCE you to buy their ink cartridges by putting a chip on each cartridge. When the chip reads empty the printer won't print, even if the cartridge has plenty of ink in it. Why would I buy such a product? It's like Honda putting a chip their gas tanks that forces me to buy Honda gas (no matter how expensive), or the car won't run. I'll never buy another Canon product, they may as well have spit in my face. FCK CANON! *** I bought this MX-700 at SAMS CLUB and the printer's going back tomorrow. I'm going to let them hear about it at SAMS also, not too happy they would sell me such a product.

Strengths: Design, Very good print, copy or scan images. G3 super fast fax.

    Weaknesses: Big space consuming printer.

Overall Evaluation: I bought this one because it had the LCD, which I now prefer on a printer. This printer takes up much counter space, as do all the other Canon printers in this line. When I purchased the printer I was not aware that it also takes an additional ink cartridge, 5 in all, hence the reason for the great images it also produces.

Strengths: Color LCD, print quality, Super G3 fax

Weaknesses: Takes up a lot of space, 5 ink cartridges.

Overall Evaluation: My 3rd. Canon and the best yet. Has a nice easy to see LCD smack in the middle. IMO, the print, scan and copy print qualities are probably the best next to HP printers. The only2 issues I had were the size and this printer takes 5 ink cartridges to feed, 4 is my limit! On to another printer...

If You Use a Sony Camera, Print Right From Its Memory Stick

This printer can read and write to Sony's proprietary flash memory devices called Memory Sticks, and with an adapter, could also support variants such as Memory Stick Pro, Duo, Pro Duo, and Micro. Few non-Sony devices use Memory Sticks, however, the company is so large that there's still a good chance you might need to read data from one someday.
