What You Should Know about the TX-47F430S
Good Fit For a Living Room
HDTVs with a diagonal screen size between 46 and 49 inches, such as this model, are LCDs or plasmas, usually with a resolution of 1366 by 768 or 1920 by 1080 (1080p). The optimum viewing distance for HDTV screens like these is generally considered to be about 7.5 to 8 feet. That makes a television of this size appropriate for a range of living areas, such as a large den or bedroom, a living room, or a game room.

Duration of ownership:
Strengths: Very bright, great picture, fantastic sound, the most bang for the buck.
Weaknesses: Throws a lot of heat from the front of the screen just does not hold up as well as better name brands
Overall Evaluation: Worked great for little over a year then it developed a dark vertical band running up and down the middle of the screen because a poor flexible connection cable, and after a year and half the power supply for the back light failed completely leaving a great sounding tv with a black screen. After speaking to the customer service at Westinghouse I explained that "durable goods" like a $1500 tv should last a little longer than a year and a half, they offered two things. No not a prorated refund, nor a discounted service/repair option they gave me phone number of a local tv repair service who charges a eye watering fee and a polite appoligy.

Duration of ownership:
Strengths: picture was decent (while it lasted)
Weaknesses: Good luck trying to mount this TV.Westinghouse customer service is slow and if you have problems good luck.
Overall Evaluation: I bought this TV back in July, after mounting, I plugged it into the wall and heard a popping noise from within the TV. Even though I had a warranty Westinghouse, they made me pay for a repairman to come out and fix the TV at a "discount" He "fixed" it then plugged it in the TV and again it popped. Called Westinghouse again and they eventually sent me another TV which I recieved in February. So after 8 months I finally have the TV again, and when I was attempting to mount the TV again, I put the screw in the back of the TV where the screw is supposed to go and then pop, TV goes out. Westinghouse refused to send another one. Bottom line this TV is not well made and 8 months after I bought the TV orginally I got to enjoy about 9 days total for a thousand dollars. At least I sold the broken set on Craigslist and got back $75. STAY AWAY!
