HP Media Vault mv2120 Network-Attached Storage Drive Review
- Network-attached storage can be intimidating, but HP's Media Vault mv2120 puts users at ease with its carefully designed, integrated software. Though the mv2120 has a two-bay design, it comes loaded with a single 500GB drive; the other bay can accommodate a second drive to provide additional storage or to handle mirroring.

Duration of ownership:
Strengths: Setup, Control Panel, Free 1-Year Web Address, DLNA server
Weaknesses: Start-up time, Sluggish online control, Few customization
Overall Evaluation: This is the first NAS that I have ever owned. I wanted something that would make it more convenient to put all my media files onto and also would be able to stream to my PS3. It comes with Twonky DLNA media server included and works with PS3. There aren't any DLNA options or customization however. There were some files that would not play that would work using my computer and TVersity. The setup for the MV2120 is very straightforward. The control center is easy to use. You get a 1-year web address for free for remote accessing of files. The initial start up time takes awhile, though the shut off time is not as bad. The online control center is pretty sluggish and slow when clicking on different tabs. There is also a limited amount of customization and options. The MV2120 is still a great NAS and has done everything I wanted it for so far.
