HP w2207h 22-Inch Wide-Screen LCD Monitor
w2207h Review, by Greg Adler June 4, 2008
HP incorporated its Brightview glare panel in the w2207h, instead of using the chemically treated antiglare coating that appears on some of the company's other monitors, such as the the HP LP3065 and the the HP LP1965. This makes for a cleaner-looking image, but introduces more reflectivity as well.
The display, which has a native resolution of 1680 by 1050 pixels, comes with two side USB ports, plus HDMI and VGA inputs. HP doesn't bundle an adapter to connect the monitor's HDMI or VGA ports to the DVI connection that most PCs now use, though such adapters are inexpensive and readily available online. ? ? ?
The display sits in a thin (about 1-inch) glossy black bezel with rounded edges. Unfortunately, you can easily smudge the glossy finish with fingerprints when adjusting the display. Though the w2207h doesn't have a headphone jack, it does include a set of built-in speakers. Like most speakers built in to monitors, the HP's are weak in bass, resulting in flat, tinny audio. For soft background music or basic sound effects for games, however, the speakers are adequate.
HP includes MyDisplay software to help you perform simple monitor calibrations, and you can automatically rotate the screen when you pivot it. Overall, if this monitor finds its way into your home or office, you'll most likely be happy with it. Just be prepared to buy a DVI adapter!

Duration of ownership: 8 Months
Strengths: First off, it is a very imposing and impressive looking monitor right out of the box. I love the clean and sharp look of it, not to mention the picture is about as crisp as you will find anywhere!
Weaknesses: My only gripe would be that the monitor does not swivel downward, only upward. Since I have it on a computer desk where the monitor sits kind of high, it would be nice to be able to raise it and aim it at a slight negative angle. Other than that, it's a beautiful thing!
Overall: Awesome large screen. Sitting right in front of it, it almost feels too big. Great for games!! I love it!!!

Strengths: Great highly detailed picture. Love the black glossy look of both the screen and the bezel, also the pivot function (until it stopped working).
Weaknesses: At $429.00 Canadian, a bit expensive. The base that allows the height and pivot function requires a lot of depth. The pivot function stopped working after 4 months. HP does not know how to fix it, even after over 5 months of emailing them? Their support seems to be very poor.
Overall: Until HP offer a fix for the pivot function, this beautiful looking monitor will be the last HP product I buy.

Strengths: Resolution, Clarity, adjustability
Weaknesses: None
Overall: I did abt 4 weeks of research on Monitors. Baught home 4 monitors & put them side by side. This one paled everything (2 samsungs & one LG). Invited friends over & asked for their opinion, as I might be biased & taken in by the beauty of this one. 8 out of 9 selected this one (3 of them work in the computer graphics industry) One did not for the price & chose LG as he fells it's a waste of money to spend on monitors.Waited a month to write the review as wanted to test it extensively & this did everything with aplomb & came on top. Best but, worth every penny. Hands down a winner.

Strengths: Colors are bright and vibrant, sleek design, easy height adjustment
Weaknesses: screen glare sometimes distracting; built-in speakers not sound good; no DVI connection
Overall: Upgraded from a Dell 1905 to this HP w2207h widescreen. It's a great 22" monitor in terms of color, display, sharpness, brightness. Pictures pop out. The rotating stand is excellent and easily allows height and tilt adjustments. Connections are HDMI (with cable included). Unlike other monitors, there is no DVI connection (will need to buy an HDMI to DVI converter). The built-in speakers aren't great. But that's minor annoyance since already have excellent external speakers with subwoofer. Sometimes the glare can be a little distracting. But overall, a great monitor for the price.

Weaknesses: Almost too bright
Overall: AWESOME MONITOR Great price($279 & free shipping)now back up to $309 & free ship. Still cheaper than in stores.($349 at Best Buy + tax) I almost didn't buy this monitor because I read several reviews that complained about glare/reflections. It does have some reflections on a dark screen and if light source can be seen on screen, but it is so adjustable that you can adjust out of the glare. I LOVE THIS MONITOR SO FAR. Overall a great purchase and buying experience with Beach Camera.

Strengths: The color quality and brightness are excellent for documents and photographs. The controls are comfortably placed on the front lower right side, no need to fumble around to find them.
Weaknesses: The only weakness I found was the sound system, which is adequate for normal listening but I like classical music while I am working.
Overall: This is a very versatile monitor for editing documents due to its width, clarity and viewing angle; you can comfortably fit two documents side by side for editing. One thing that really impressed me was the monitor's stand with its infinite height and viewing angle adjustments. It also has the ability to rotate the monitor vertically, which is a nice feature when editing portraits or viewing long documents.

Strengths: -Fully adjustable and durable stand...left, right, up, down, even folds over onto stand-Beautiful monitor with perfect 3000:1 contrast and 1680 x 1050 resolution...can go higher-Easy to use
Weaknesses: - Portrait view only works with VGA output (not HDMI)
Overall: I ended up doing about 16 hours (and I'm not overestimating) of research for monitors. I chose the HP w2207h over all of the others b/c of the amazing adjustable stand and the beauty (clarity and brightness) compared to the others. I decided on going with the HP w2207h over the w2408h b/c the 24" was just too big for my every day computing needs. I use this for gaming and movies also. If you end up choosing this monitor, then I believe that you will be happy that you did!
