Iiyama Vision Master Pro 413
Vision Master Pro 413 Review, by Sean Captain September 28, 2001
WHAT'S HOT: This Iiyama handles both text and graphics with aplomb. Though the Iiyama's performance with most test screens impressed our judges, the bright, colorful images it produced when recreating photographs really caught our panel's attention. In addition, it received top-notch scores in our contrast test screen, displaying clear, precise transitions of fine, alternating black and white pinstripes.
WHAT'S NOT: The brightness that enlivened graphics images caused some problems with other screens. In our test with white fonts on a black background, and with white text on a dark Web page, the high brightness tended to blur the characters. Adjusting the brightness level didn't change the situation appreciably.
Moreover, the on-screen controls could be far easier to use. Menus are small and hard to read, plus they generally timed out before we could decipher them.
WHAT ELSE: Dressed in an attractive, light-violet case, this monitor also provides two standard inputs that let you share it between two PCs--a handy feature for developers who run multiple systems but need to conserve desk space. A button on the front of the monitor lets you quickly toggle from one input to another.
UPSHOT: The Vision Master Pro 413 is a good-looking, reasonably priced monitor for graphics jockeys without the cash for a larger 19- or 21-inch screen.
