We haven't had our hands on this product, but we know which features matter. Here's how the Sony XEL-1 OLED TV (Widescreen, 960x540, 1,000,000:1, HDTV) measures up:

OLED Display Technology

An OLED (organic light-emitting diode) TV, like this one, creates images with an array of tiny, thin-film LEDs that emit red, green, or blue light. OLED-based screens have many attractive characteristics. They are very power-efficient, for example, minimizing power consumption. They can turn white all the way off, allowing for true blacks and amazing contrast, and can be viewed from way off to the side without loss of brightness or color fidelity. Because OLED screens are super-thin, OLED televisions can be extremely slim, too. OLED is an emerging technology: Current OLED televisions are both small in size (an 11-inch screen is the max so far) and very high in price. OLED may be the future, but the present is LCD, plasma, and DLP.
