Widescreen Monitor Offers Extra Viewing Space for HD Video, Gaming, and Work Apps
Widescreen displays such as this one have become more popular as people discover the benefits of the extra horizontal space for application palettes, viewing documents side by side, and for a more cinematic experience when watching movies or playing video games. This is a 16:10 widescreen display capable of displaying high-definition video, but it is a bit taller than the 16:09 aspect ratio found on most HDTVs, so some letterboxing will be necessary to fill the space above and below the video window.
DVI interface gives you a cleaner picture than older analog connections
This display uses DVI (Digital Video Interface) to connect to a computer. DVI uses a digital signal and delivers a higher quality picture than an analog VGA connection. Older computer may not offer DVI, but almost all computers purchased in the last few years should. Also, be sure to check if the display ships with a DVI cable.
VGA Interface Will Connect to Nearly All Computers and Displays, But At the Cost of Some Clarity
This display has VGA connectivity. Also known as RGB, this analog connector represents the lowest common denominator of display ports. VGA is found on most displays and most computers, ensuring wide compatibility. Computers create a digital video signal, so when you use a VGA connection, the digital video from your computer is converted into analog to go out across the VGA cable, and then re-digitized for use on the display. This can result in image quality that’s not as good-looking as that from a DVI or HDMI connection. Many displays include VGA and a digital connector such as DVI.
Adjust Your Monitor's Height and Avoid a Pain in the Neck
Imagine unboxing your beautiful new display, and about a half hour after you begin using it, developing a kink in your neck from looking down at a poorly positioned monitor. If your display is height adjustable like this one, you can simply raise the screen to your desired level. If the display cannot be raised, you’ll either need to find some stacking risers or other sturdy surfaces to set your display on, or keep an icepack and ibuprofen handy for that stiff neck.
Connect Peripherals Easily With Built-in USB Ports
USB (Universal Serial Bus) ports allow this monitor to connect USB peripherals such as printers, keyboards, mice, and external storage devices. Especially convenient for anyone who keeps their computer under a desk, ports on the display can eliminate the need for longer USB cables as well as reducing the need to crawl around plugging and unplugging cables. Having USB ports on the display can also be helpful to laptop users who have a limited number of USB ports and can help reduce the number of cables needing to be plugged in when connecting to the computer. When it comes to USB ports, the more, the merrier.

Strengths: Excellent picture and clear text. The same IPS panel (LG Philips LM260WU1) as NEC 2690WUXi, but several hundred dollars cheaper. Pretty much no lags, less than 2ms, which is good for gaming.
Weaknesses: The display takes about 30 seconds to detect inputs every time I turn on the monitor. Cons for some people due to lack of inputs (1xDVI and 1xVGA).
Overall: Planar customer service is excellent. The first monitor I received had 1 stuck pixel, I called Planar customer service for replacement and they shipped another brand new one to me right away; I received the replacement 2 days after I called and it's no charge!
