Monochrome Laser Printers Offer Reliability, Value, Variety to Business Users

A monochrome laser printer such as this one is a business basic. While color inkjet and color laser printers involve more complexity and invite higher print costs, monochrome laser printers are reliable, their toner is cheap, and they come in any size, speed, or price range you'd like. Plain-text printing is its forte; it can't manage anything beyond extremely simple graphics.

A monochrome laser prints by using a laser and rotating mirrors to beam an image indirectly onto a photoconducting drum; attracting toner to that image; and then melting the toner at high temperature to transfer the image to paper.

    Duration of ownership:

    Strengths: printing fast, initiating fast, solid quality

    Weaknesses: toner price high, a little bit noisy.

    Overall Evaluation: bought it last month when it's on sale. I have to say it print paper faster than I think. Initiating printing is also fast too, w/o sacrificing the quality. HP does a great job on quality control. noisy issue is just like other HP printers I bought before, a little bit louder than the ones made by Samsung. But it's tolerable. Yes, it's a little bit expensive than the same kind of printer made by Samsung and Brothers. But you get what you pay for.

    Strengths: very fast

    Weaknesses: pricey toner

    Overall Evaluation: This printer requires virtually no warm up time, and prints very quickly. I use it basically for text only, so I can't comment on the quality of its images. Like most toner cartridges, pretty pricey. Burned through the half-filled sample toner in one month.
