Strengths: Reliable, fairly quick
Weaknesses: Noise
Overall: Knock on wood this has been a reliable drive. It is still pretty fast. It's been in service for about 3 years. Often it runs for weeks without being turned off. Now to the bad part. I think this thing makes about the same frequency (but loader) noise as the ringing in my ears. When sittng next to it for a long time, which I do for about 3 to 5 hours a day, it's now unbearable. The noise knocks it from a three to a two star

Strengths: S P E E D !!!
Weaknesses: none but the price I paid when it was first available
Overall: I bought this drive and a 133 Promise card from CDW for a 800Mhz. Pentium III system from Compaq using 98 SE for slighly over $300. The motherboard only provided 66 DMA hard drive support although the factory 30 Gb. drive was a Maxtor 7200rpm capable of 100 DMA. Using this set-up with the new 80 Gb. 7200rpm 133 DMA drive as the system boot drive, the processing speeds doubled cutting 5 hour program runs to 2 1/2 hours. This dramatic improvement made the price well worth the money and has kept this now 3 year old system (now with XP Pro and Linux Red Hat dual boot) from becoming obsolete.

Strengths: Fast, Quite, Support ATA 100/133, Large Capacity, Reasonable Price.
Weaknesses: It's a little hard to install, especially when your Bios not suport large harddisk capacity. But, it's okay, You just Have To Learn :)
Overall: I thinks this one is the best HardDisk I've ever bought. Especially I'm really impressed with its performance. It's very fast and stable too. But maybe you will get a little problem when you want to install it in old motherboard. Because you BIOS maybe detect your harddisk just only 32 GB. Before you install, better you go and check first about this thing in Maxtor website. You'll like this product
