  Weaknesses: Unreliable, Expensive (Even in Singapore, Where it is Manufactured)

  Overall: Purchased this drive in Singapore. Out of the box the drive would not work at all. Drive was returned to Singapore office, and replaced with a new Drive. This was used in an External USB case to backup my files and photos. Therefore is has only been used 1-2 times a Month for the last 18 Months. Kept at home with no transporting around. That would equate to 1-2 Months normal operations in a Desktop PC (My 3 year old Desktop PC drive [Not Seagate] is still working with nearly daily use). Very Poor Reliability from Two out of Two Seagate HDD's. I wont buy another unless all the other brands are equally as Unreliable.

  Strengths: Very quiet, fast with win98

  Weaknesses: Doesn't work well in win2k or raid

  Overall: I like this drive, very quiet as advertised and very fast in win98, when I boot into win2k it was a dog, tried it in a raid configuration as well and its a dog, very slow. Works well in multi drive configurations. Seagate has very quick response to my emails, but no real solutions as to why this problem. I read on a website that this drive is so fast that in a raid it needs to read the information twice to get it and that makes it slow. I emailed them back with this info and also asked if something like this was happening in win2k as well, this is where they fell down, no email response at all. So while I initially had great response from the company it seems like they did not like my last few emails. This drive was super fast with win98 and I would recommend it for that only.

  Strengths: VERY Quiet and reasonably fast

  Weaknesses: Not as fast as the new Western Digital 120GB with 8MB/cache

  Overall: This is a good drive, if you're looking for a quiet drive you can't go wrong! I can't hear it at all over my CPU fan.

  Strengths: Absolutely silent, fast

  Weaknesses: None

  Overall: My previous hard drive, a Maxtor 7200rpm, had such a loud motor whine that it sounded like a jet preparing for takeoff. Silent operation was my #1 criteria in searching for a replacement, and the Seagate Barracuda has proven to be a perfect choice. It is so silent that, even during heavy access, it is inaudible over the white noise of the case fans. If you want a fast, silent hard drive then look no further.

  Strengths: Great drive... gotta love 'em.

  Weaknesses: I don't particularly like the price... of course, everything's expensive these days.

  Overall: Seagate is the only hard drive manufacturer, as far as I am concerned. I would never buy anything but Seagate. Great drive! I give it 5 stars!
