Strengths: Doesnt crash period. Ive run battlefield, doom3, and others but it cant get better than this. XP Pro is slower and less stable.

Weaknesses:none it is a little boring to look at though

Overall Evaluation: Ive read the reviews of the other users and I have to say that of all the MS OSs 2000 is the best. Ive built computers and Ive tested every os since 98 on my machines and 2000 is the most stable. I use it on my main office server and that computer has run for 4 years without crashing once. It takes up less space and system speed than xp and it beats the hell out of me

Strengths: Low Overhead, fast and easy install (8-2004)version and nice features.

Weaknesses:Lots of conflicts with my '97 Sony. But I got it to work.

Overall Evaluation: I LIKE Win 2000 Pro. Its very '98 ish but it responds better than '98 even though I shoe-horned it into my pentium 200Mhz. I also run it with my AMD-64. Naturally that is a better fit, but to run at 200 MHz and 1800 MHz is a pretty versitile OS I'd say. Crashes are few. Usually its due to me running utility programs, and web surfing at the same time. Plus the normal collection of anti-spy programs, virus watchers, etc. What's a poor OS to do? Everyone should check out "NO-Nags" for competant software that is SAFE. Its all screened and free to try out. 95/98/and 2000 PRO are my reccomendations as that is what I've used. Sky

Strengths: Very stable. Excellent multitasking and memory management.

Weaknesses:Has been replaced by Windows XP.

Overall Evaluation: As with any OS, the proper hardware drivers are needed to make it compatible with your motherboard. Stick to name brand systems and boards. The negative commentary I have read here must come from inexperienced users. I have been using Windows 2000 with my clients since a year into its release. The only thing I'm sorry about is that it has been replaced by Windows XP, which is still less stable and hardware friendly. Re the MAC: yeah, yeah, yeah ... I've heard all the MAC whining before. The MAC is a nice system, particularly now that it's Unix based, but if it ever reaches 95% of the installed user base, it will become a target for virus authors, just as is Windows. Part of the MAC's security advantage is that at only a tiny fraction of the desktop market, it flies below the radar of the virus writers.

Weaknesses:Type it here if you have a weak computer.

Overall Evaluation: Highly recommended. Hell, I think its better than windows xp and windows 98! -Great for gamers if you love to play battlefield 1942 or whateever!

    Strengths: Pretty

Weaknesses:As stable as nitro glycerin. Easy basic setup. LAN/WAN security requires hours reading costly manuals, using MS?s next to worthless ?Knowledge Base,? or costly professional assistance.

Overall Evaluation: My compnay has had a Mac LAN for several years. I thought I would be smart and show my company how much money they would save if they switched to Windows. I made a big mistake when I decided to switch from MAS OS X to Windows. With my MAC OS X it took a couple of phone calls to Apple but our LAN had top notch security in two days. With Windows I have been working since the day I got the machine and I am still not sure I have a secure LAN. Just when I thought I might have the thing licked, I start being hit with the latest round of viruses. The people of my company that are still on the Mac LAN are just cruising along while I am paying more money and losing a tremendous amount of time getting rid of viruses. My crash prone Windows machine is in the trash ? I would not stick anyone with such a headache and cost of setting up and maintaining a Windows LAN. It is back to the Mac for me.
