  Strengths: Great, Sharp Photos from 4x6 to 8x10. The 4x6 photo cartridge works very well for quick prints.

  Overall Evaluation: I bought this printer primarily for digital photos and was sold on Canon when I saw the 6 separate ink tanks. When an ink tank runs dry, you are prompted to change it and then the print job will continue, even while in the middle of a photo print. The print still comes out flawless. You would never know that you changed a ink tank in the middle of the process.I always keep an extra cartridge or two of each of the colors and can buy them in bulk for about $11.00 each. This printer is used daily and has had no problems for 2 years.The quality and reliabilty are so good that I bought the Canon 3 in 1 fax/scanner for my home office.

  Strengths: Quality of color photos. Quick and quiet.

  Overall Evaluation: I've had this printer for over a year. The ink cartridges are expensive, but you can find sales at major retailers, and get good buys on eBay. DO NOT EVER EVER EVER USE CANON "COMPATABLE" INK!!!!!!! Did this...and the color quality really stinks.....hence wasting your money. Buy genuine Canon ink. I've heard (thru other posts) that quality can also diminish if you don't use canon photo paper. I've been using Kodak Glossy paper...and love the results. If I can get better results using Canon paper...I'll really be impressed. Printer is fast and quiet. Once you get the hang of it...changing ink cartridges is a snap...although they do last a long time unless you print many photos that have the same color/hues.

  Strengths: fast, individual ink tank system, quality, USB 2.0, borderless printing, and good software.

  Weaknesses:OEM cannon ink is expensive. OEM canon photo paper is ridiculously expensive as well.

  Overall Evaluation: I bought it to replace my old Epson 875DC. I was replacing the ink tank of the Epson way too often. Compare to Epson 875DC, Canon i960 is faster, color is richer, more detailed, and cheaper (ink cartridge wise). I have heard that SOME aftermarket 3rd party inks are just as good as oem inks (some minor priting software tweaks may be needed to achieve the result). But I have not yet to try it out. As for photo papers, Canon is really picky about my Epson Glossy Photo Paper ($20 for 120 sheets of 8.5x11). The dark colors has a redish tint to it. Try as I might, I can not get rid of it. It prints perfectly on Canon photo paper.

  Strengths: Easy set up! Very Fast! Has photo paper tray for 4x6 so you can keep that and regular paper loaded in unit and just turn wheel to select between the two. Great price!

  Weaknesses:Canon and all other makers need to quit being cheap and supply cable. Your choice is to either spend a ton at retailer or save a few $ and order on-line...but wait for delivery.

  Overall Evaluation: Was my first Photo-printer. I love it! I've printed over 500 pics since getting after X-mas 2003, never a bad pic. Ink tanks great system, buy your ink on line its nearly double at retailers. It will feed any brand of paper so I use the cheapest, all the paper looks the same once its in the frame anyways! I use it with my Canon A-80 digital camera and get many complements on the pic quality. In draft mode saves mega black ink. I looked at more expensive units from Canon and others. I would not even consider a HP since I feel their quality is lacking for the cost.A fellow outdoor sportsman gave me info that shows HP's political philosophy is avidly anti-outdoor sports, hunting etc. Very happy with my choice!!

  Strengths: 6 ink bottles, extremely quiet, fast. Flawless operation thus far. Installation easy.

  Weaknesses:The 4 x 6" attachment is rinky-dink, but works ok. Packaged software just so-so.

  Overall Evaluation: I bought this as a photo printer to be used with my desktop based on reviews. I was comparing it to an Epson300. A computer store jockey said the Epson was way better than the Canon. This is my first Canon purchase. I have not been able to discern that the photo quality is any better than a 3 ink HP 882C. Paid about $160.00 online.

The i960 produces attractive photos and can print directly from compatible digital cameras, but it lacks media-card slots and an LCD.
