    Duration of ownership: 13 Months

    Strengths: OK for 13 months

    Weaknesses:Totally disabled after 13 months

    Overall Evaluation: WARNING - Do not purchase any AcomData external Firewire/USB-2 Drive.I purchased the Acomdata 40GB Model HDO40U2FE, in May 2003, which I paid $140 at Compusa in NYC. I was using this drive to swap between to PC's - lost "10GB" of data ! This drive went plunk on July 30th, 2004 - after 13 months of use - only the AC power adapter works. They are using cheap components on their external drives. They are no longer selling this model. If you can afford to buy a new external drive every year - THEN BUY IT !!!Also, as an article appeared in a PC Magazine 2003 - "Some Manfactures do not pay the REBATE". A $30 rebate was mailed to this company - They claimed that the rebate was received too late !!!! IT WASN'T !!!!!

    Strengths: None!!

    Weaknesses:Tech support and RMA handling is worthless on their good days. Drive failed multiple times.

    Overall Evaluation: If your looking for a GOOD external drive then stay away from ones from this compnay. If you were to take a dollar and wrap it around the drive and throw it away, then you would be losing something worthwhile.
