Strengths: Very good idea, had been looking for a solution like this for several years already...
Weaknesses:problems to install the software, system had several breakdowns. If two Computers try to access the drive at the same time, the connection completely breaks down. (using version 3.04.1018)
Overall Evaluation: The software does not jet work OK. But for more than a month no later Version is released... If you want to use the drive with the multi-computer-access you can only run it under Windows (The disk needs to be formatted in NTFS). The Computer is not able to be shifted in standby-mode, if you accidentially pull out the network-connection the system hangs totally.Over all: A good idea, we REALLY NEED MORE ENERGY-SAVING SERVERLESS STORAGE SOLUTIONS (I don't know any other than this!), but not like the Ximeta products...

Strengths: transfer speeds are fast; tech support is superb; drive spins down after 5 minutes of inactivity; PRICE is extremely nice; small and quiet; usb 2.0 is a plus
Weaknesses:support for other OS's is behind in development (linux, mac, win98); no firewire
Overall Evaluation: using their newer 3.03 drivers (non-beta) on my winxp machines work like a charm...i can read and write data from all 3 machines simultaneously...seems the product is evolving quickly, since there is a new driver almost every month or so, and new units now have a spindown feature that activates after 5 minutes or so...lowers the heat and power consumption dramatically....honestly i would have dumped the product if it weren't for their tech support responding to my problems so quickly...they pointed me in the right direction and made up for the lack of documentation in the box...would definitely recommend the product...can't beat the price for what it is....-T. Strengths: NDAS. Price. Stylish. Multi-OS drivers.
Weaknesses:NDAS (still developing). Speed (it's expected though at 100Mbs LAN vs 400Mbs USB2)
Overall Evaluation: I picked one of these up to replace a small file server that I was using to share files between computers/devices in my home. I was hesitant at first and knew of the issue with only one computer having write access at one time. I took a chance anyway and it paid off. Shortly after buying and installing the Netdisk, Ximeta had drivers available for multi write operations. I installed the latest drivers and no more worries switching who has write access to the drive. The windows drivers installed without any issue and setting up the drive for write access was painfree. I did have some issue transfering large files. This turned out to be a problem with my onboard LAN card and Ximeta tech support was extremely fast, knowledgable, and helpful. Within two emails I had the problem resolved. I am highly satisfied with the drive and I think that NDAS technology fits a nitch (SOHO) and will prevail especially given the high cost of other competing drives. The only thing I would like to see is Xbox support (like the TIVO guy) this would be nice but I dont see it happening.

Strengths: Speed of intranet transfersDoes not need to be plugged into computer directlyWorks great once you get it installed & configured.
Weaknesses:Very difficult to get drivers working, after newer drivers, and some more back and forth with Ximeta got it working.
Overall Evaluation: I purchased this drive to improve the time it took my DVR's to tranfer to my computer. After the hassle with the installation and drivers (drivers were the 1st generation) the drive has worked as advertised. The drive has cut down my transfer time by 2/3. I would recommend this drive to anyone needing the speed increase for data transfer, and perhaps with the newer drivers, your experience will go smoother. TIP: If transfering big amounts of data, defragment the drive after each transfer, this will keep the drive optimized, and minimize the possibility for errors.

Strengths: Fast, ability to create one massive drive. The new drivers allow read/write access by multiple computers. THe new drivers are currently in beta. There are Linux drivers
Weaknesses:It would be nice for it to have an IP so it could be accessed more easily.
Overall Evaluation: Worth giving a try. They are clearly putting major work into the drivers. It may turn out to be an amazing product very soon. However DOWNLOAD THE NEWEST DRIVERS.I would love it to work with my Tivo HMO but no IP makes that a pipe dream.....
