    Strengths: Works like a charm out of the box. Quiet and works as expected.

    Weaknesses:None noticed.

    Overall Evaluation: After reading the Quick Start Guide I powered it up and formated the drive to NTSF and began backuping up files and transferring digital photos I hope to use in making several DVD photoshows. Everything as gone well. It is very quiet and the drive is not warm let alone hot. I thought I wanted a Sony Giga Vault but decided to go for the Seagate. So far so good: no disappointments, I am very pleased with the purchase. I would have given the drive 5 stars but I have only had it a few hours.

    Overall Evaluation: First impressions are not good. On a Windows 98SE desktop system, aborted startup with errors in VNETBIOS and VMM. Locks up the system when copying files to the DiskStor device. Slow response or complete failure when reading files from the DiskStor device. On a Windows ME laptop system, normal startup. Locks up the system when copying files to the DiskStor device. Slow response or complete failure when reading files from the DiskStor device. Absolutely no technical support information on the Seagate web site. Access time listed on the box states 9.5ms. Very noisy when powered on.
