Strengths: Quiet! Easy to install and use.
Weaknesses:
Overall Evaluation: I use this drive to backup music and documents, and only used USB interface until now. No problem at all. Backup speed is OK, but it takes some time for very large file. Using fireWire may speed up. The backup software is easy to use.

Weaknesses:Drive not recognized after replacing HD on PC
Overall Evaluation: All my pictures and music I had backed up (automatically and manually) were lost when I had to replace my PC's HD. I turned the MAXTOR on, installed SW, nothing. I was prompted to format the drive. Called Maxtor, they offered advise where to look for data recovery services because I might have corrupt partitions. I will never buy a Maxtor anything, particularly since my PC's HD was also a Maxtor and failed after only 2 years.

Strengths: Well-designed, 16MB cache, improve software. Both USB & Firewire.
Weaknesses:Still heavy and somewhat bulky and pricy.
Overall Evaluation: I owned both version of the One Touch I & II. First of all the picture here is not the right one. Version 2 has a slightly different design. It's all in metalic color, no more of that ugly blue front panel. Button at front is pushed inward the faceplate so you don't accidentally hit it. There are ventilation holes so hot air can exit. This is best if you put in vertical position. It runs cooler than version I but still gets pretty warm due to lack of a fan. In term of performance, it runs better. You get more cache. Software is improved but still the Express version, not the Business one they have. You can fine tune the drive inside and easily configure the backup software to do different things when you hit that button. A very good drive but still very pricy... but one of the major office supply chains is quietly clearing it out at $143.50 in store. Think of their slogan. It's something "easy" ;-)Update: I don't like the stand. It doesn't have rubber bottom or feet and doesn't stick or click to the enclosure. That means when you move it around, you have to use both hands to hold both the case and its stand.

Overall Evaluation: I bought this from Staples last week when it was no clearence, it was at very good price and many of my friends recommended this drive. It is a pretty cheap external hard disk compared with other compatible hard disks. This drive becomes my main backup device due to its huge storage space and some really useful features. I bought this drive to backup all my data. It's fast and convenient. The Retrospect backup software that came with the drive is easy to use and provides one touch service. I like it very much. Good drive for a very good price.I like this drive very much an dit is very useful to U.so if it is useful to U or But if U get cheap ones.Enjoy your day.

Strengths: Huge storage space. 16MB. Easy to setup. Quite. Firewire and USB 2 connectivity.
Weaknesses:Quite expensive. No other weakness found so far.
Overall Evaluation: This drive becomes my main backup device due to its huge storage space and some really useful features. There are historical backup copies where you can specific the restore point like Window System Restore feature. Very easy to back up with just one button. If you can afford it, this will be one of your favorite back up device.
