  Overall Evaluation: This camcorder is very small and compact. It's easy to handle and great to carry around. I would recommend this camcorder to use. Great buy. Best investment I got.

  Overall Evaluation: I was in the market for another camcorder when our Sony was stolen. I've never purchased Canon camera products so I was not sure at first. Online reviews elsewhere kept lauding the Optura line so I went for the 500. What a great purchase. I packed this camera for the family vacation overseas and it was the perfect companion. My wife used it extensively and even my 6 year old son was able to get some great pictures and video. I am very pleased with the purchase. The durability and ease of use of this little wonder is evident right out of the box. I was a little dissapointed in the battery life, but since I was able to pick up a replacement online for less than $40, I've got plenty of juice for the road.

  Duration of ownership: 1 Months

  Strengths: Built-in flash allow photo taking in all lighting condition. Well thought thru design on the strap with movable arm, video and photo buttons.

  Weaknesses:Only 10X, video taken using digital zoom is not clear. Original battery does not last long, secondary battery required.

  Overall Evaluation: This is a matchbook type camcorder so easy to carry during travel, plus well design when holding the camcorder from ergo perspective. 2.2M still picture is good enough when printing 4x6 photographs, especially with built-in flash, so it can really be used for both video and photo taking purpose. Pictures taken using auto mode tends to be "blue" color, so need to adjust setting when taking pictures with white background.
