Duration of ownership:
Strengths: Bought it for a friend, install was quick and painless. Works great, no problems yet. Now if only the 16x blank dvds would get affordable!
Weaknesses:The DVD-R was easy to installed but after a month or so of usage. The DVD would not read CD's. I still could burn DVD but it would not read CD's for some reason.
Overall Evaluation: I wish some of you would post what motherboards you are using with this drive that have found it to work.I have an ASUS A8N-SLI Deluxe with an Athlon 64 4000.I give this DVD recorder 3 stars because its obvious it works well for others.I tried updating the firmware.I flashed the BIOS..nothing works.When i place a DVD in the Plextor,and attempt to access it,it hangs my whole computer,windows task manager will not even work.I read the warnings given here by others,but i failed to adhere to them.Anyway,I will try something different.

Overall Evaluation: I am very happy with this product. For the money you can"t beet it .I think it should be raited #1. Also the Nero is easy to use and I have had nothing but good luck with it.
