Strengths: high contrast ratio, great image

Weaknesses:limited set up range, only 1 HDMI

Overall Evaluation: This projector works great for movie and video games, even on VGA connection. However, I am not geting very good signal from HDMI output through my PC. This may be caused by PC or the HDMI wires, and I am still struggling in setting up the digital output.

Strengths: easy set up; size; brilliant picture; contrast ratio

Weaknesses:manual focus; noise; only 1k lumens

Overall Evaluation: I bought this projector purely for movie and video gaming purposes. It satisfied my need greatly.in fact, i would have liked to have made this my primary video source for television viewing were it not for only having 1000 lumens rating.However..Set up was a cinch. The picture is very rich.It performed a lot better than I expected for a sub-2k dlp projector.

Strengths: DarkChip2+ coupled with excellent color wheel and optics system. Depth, dynamic range, black levels, saturation, all excellent. Build quality seems very good.

Weaknesses:Common with this level of DLP projector- large image offset, limited placement (no lens shift). Adequate brightness for 100" or so screen, but no real "headroom" here.

Overall Evaluation: This projector is an upgrade from a 5yr old SVGA LCD, iScanPro combo. I watch DVDs using an OPPO OPDV971H driving the HC3000U through HDMI to a matte white 110" Da-Lite Model B screen. I have not viewed any other content. Out of the box, default settings (cinema, low color temp, iris closed, lamp std), the image is fantastic!! Very rich, deep blacks, huge dynamic range, great color fidelity and saturation. And sharp, too- end credits are now very readable. The projector is fairly quiet (certainly not bothersome) and the menus and remote are intuitive to use. Though probably bright enough for high gain or smaller screens, I wish it had a bit more headroom here, especially as the lamp ages. From other reviews, the Mitsubishi HD1000U seems to offer a bit extra brightness with similar image quality. Available for around $1,600 from several sources, the HC3000U can provide a wonderfully imersive theater experience. I very highly recommend it as one of the best values in true 720P projectors at this time.
