    Strengths: Works very well

    Weaknesses:Software is terrible and glitchy

Overall Evaluation: I bought 2 of these for 2 systems in 2 of my houses. Programming was about 20 minutes for the first one and worked flawlessly the first time. The other house was slightly more complex and took about an hour, mainly due to be timed out of the Harmony site. After this it worked perfectly as well. I had a very bad experience with a Harmony 880 which never worked properly, but the 890 has been a real joy. All of my components are behind doors and the rf works perfectly. I am surprised to say that I am actually very pleased with this product.

Strengths: Pretty easy to program via online interface.

Weaknesses:Not good signal strength. Doesn't communicate well through my component cabinet with the door closed. Slow response time on buttons.

Overall Evaluation: I'm amending my prior review. I had high hopes for an all-in-one remote. It was easy to program through the online interface, but the communication between the remote and my components was not great. There was no communication when the door to my components cabinet was closed. I had to turn the remote just the right way to get it to respond even when I was nearby with the cabinet doors open. After working with Logitech's very helpful customer support, apparently the IR blaster was not positioned well to communicate with my components. I ended up having to use the rf extender cables to communicate directly with each component. I had really hoped to have a good, wireless remote solution. It's performing better with the extenders, but still not all I'd hoped.

Strengths: Easy to configure on on computer. Worked the first try!

Weaknesses:Buttons could be easier to find in the dark. At least they light up so you can see them.

Overall Evaluation: Very easy to set up. I have it controlling my Dish Network box, TV, Audio Receiver, and DVD. A little pricey, but went from 6 remotes down to one remote and my wife is happy about that.

Strengths: Best universal remote on the market, best remote Logitech makes, well surpasses the Harmony 1000 which is more expensive a "bugger" to program and will not support Zwave technology.

    Weaknesses:None.

Overall Evaluation: The Harmony 890 remote is absolutely the best universal remote on the market. I control two flat panel LCD TVs, the home theatre systems supporting each, ATT-Uverse Motorola receivers, all my zwave lamp and appliance modules and overhead light dimmers. This remote "thinks" logically, once you've mastered it's way of thinking it is a snap to make scene changes, add new scenes, new electronics, etc. I am so pleased with the 890 I have purchased another for my second floor. Buy one and enjoy, if you run into problem give Logitech's technical service a call, they are the very knowledgable, curteous, and can help you through most problems......

    Duration of ownership:

Strengths: Programmable via computer which is great! Learns IR as well as IR settings from Logitech

Weaknesses:Not conveniently set up for PVR use (does have play/pause etc, but the button layout is poor and hard to use). Feels cheap in your hand. IR signals dont work as good as manufacturer remotes.

Overall Evaluation: I got this to replace all the remotes I had to use for PVR, DVD, TV and tuner/switch. It was easy to use and program via USB. All I had to do was input the make/model of my equipment and it worked. I did have to reprogram a few buttons via IR learning since the manufacturers remote funtioned a little differently. No big deal. The remote, although sleek and attractive, isn't set up for PVR usage. The play/pause/rewind/fastforward buttons are not easy to reach while in your hand and they are bunched together without much delineation. My guess is that the industrial designer doesn't have a PVR where pause needs to be prominent along with ff/rw. Oh well. At least I only have one remote. :) If you have an integrated PVR and use it regularly, look for a better designed remote.
