Duration of ownership: 6 Weeks

Strengths: Cheap, well-recognized software.

Weaknesses:Cannot register more than one copy per e-mail address. I have three computers. Registration slow, clumsy, requires multiple restarts and reverification after installation.

Overall Evaluation: Returned software to McAfee for refund, though along with their regular service, response is very slow. Reminds me of the warmth and responsiveness of Microsoft. Much happier with Kaspersky Internet Security. Easy to install, works in background better, updated easily, installs easily. Can't imagine buying McAfee again.

Overall Evaluation: McAffe Products are easy than any other Internet Security or other in my opinion. i use McAfee than any other one out there. so i recommend using McAfee than any other.

Duration of ownership: 2 Days

Strengths: simple to use

Weaknesses:The configuration options are so limited that it made it useless for me.

Overall Evaluation: I turned off all features except the VirusScan, since most software firewalls cause more problems that they fix (I recommend a hardware firewall, or Windows Firewall). But then I found that there was no way to turn off scanning of network drives or to select which drives and folders to scan. After 14 hours I shut off the scan because it was still scanning all the mapped network drives on my home network and even the drive mapped to my backup solution on the internet. This product is a reject. Too bad I can't find a decent virus scanning solution. Norton and Trend Micro have their problems as well. I will try AVG next. BTW, I contacted their tech support to make sure that I wasn't overlooking the configuration options somewhere, and they confirmed that feature wasn't available.

Duration of ownership: 1 Years

Strengths: Assures them no one steels their products.

Weaknesses:Process is broken. I am a consultant and have many installs. As such have seen over a dozen that repeatedly tell me "... your product must be verified." (i.e. registered). Un-ending cycle.

Overall Evaluation: Should never have to verify a product a 2nd, 3rd, or 4th time (you get the idea). Also, I absolutely detest their user name and password "thing." Employees leave. While they are still employees, they change their passwords and email addresses for that matter. Breaks things. Then you can't "validate" anymore and download updates. No response to various emails to support re. this matter. Do we have many choices? Symantec products perform this process about the same. Who came up with this idea anyhow???? Are people really stealing updates at such an alarming rate that we need such controls? Several of my customers have asked me to remove McAfee from their machines.

Duration of ownership: 8 Days

Strengths: all thing in a package

Weaknesses:Anitvirus is weak, I found it can not clean many virus/Trojan on my PC. My CPU hit 100% but McAfee antivirus reported the system was clean.

Overall Evaluation: I am dissapointed with the Anti Virus, it could not protect my system effeciently. Not sure if it is because it is version 8.0 while there is version 10.0? I would like to try Norton.
