Weaknesses:OVERHEATS!! Needs a fan to work!

Overall Evaluation: I have worked with MANY networking devices, but this one was one of the trickiest! Out of the box it runs well, but after 2-3 hours of use, it halts! Even when you reboot every device connected to the network, it will still stop working!! After I TOUCHED the box after one of the times it halted, I saw why. The device was as hot as a frying pan. Recommendation, place a small fan near the box and make sure all sides are well ventilated. As far as Belkin is concerned, why was this not tested in REAL WORLD CONDITIONS?

Overall Evaluation: some people say u cant get on but u cat al you need to to is disable MAC Address Filtering , Firewall > WAN Ping Blocking. next the Bandwidth put on to 20mhz+40mhz auto and QoS Configuration on Broadcast SSID off to make it fast if u want mt speed isastest Download: 14364 kb/sFastest Upload: 2107 kb/sAverage Download: 2611 kb/sAverage Upload: 1808 kb form speedtest.net

Strengths: good range, but not important here

Weaknesses:excessive dropouts

Overall Evaluation: done with belkin. for the past few weeks i?ve had more dropouts than a 70?s highschool. i?m not some tech geek, but i?m not a newbie and this thing sucks, 3 sessions with tech support - i now speak full punjabi and hindi now, and nothing works, 3 email sessions with tech support and all i did was waste paper and ink. all in all each time they all said the same thing - firmware update, re-set and you will be very very fine. well things arent very very fine. there are some other issues but arent worth mentioning if the most basic function of the machine doesnt work why waste time with other items. wife said i was getting a linksys for christmas so i can wait. after this i?m gonna shred this thing in the garbage disposal and mail it back to belkin - with my regards of course

Strengths: Looks good, nice display

Overall Evaluation: Easy to set up, but crashes all the time, needs reset every day. Also range is not that good. Nortel PVN does not work and Belkin support is not answering emails concernig it. I guess they don't have a fix. This is the last Belkin product I ever bought.

Belkin N1 Wireless Router

This router is far and away the best of our test group in design and ease of use, and it has excellent features. But it stumbled badly in long- and midrange performance tests.

In almost every measure besides performance, where it unfortunately hung around the rear of the bunch in our October issue's roundup review, the Belkin N1 is a star. It is head and shoulders above the rest of the products we saw in design and usability, with Apple-like attention to detail in the packaging, manuals, interface, and help files. It also has top-notch features, a lifetime warranty, and excellent support.
