  Duration of ownership: 2 Weeks

  Strengths: Really high contrast ratio (100,000:1) means deep darksAmazing picturelight weight

  Weaknesses:None so far

  Overall Evaluation: I saw this at a local shop when the picture jumped out from the other 30 sets on the shelf. LOTS of deep black in this picture. The glossy pane on the front also makes it look simply amazing. To my eye, I would put this up against plasma, just about any other LCD I have seen, and for the current difference in dollars would not even consider LED. Maybe in a dew years though. Bottom line, this is a heck of a set and I am very happy with it. Thanks, Samsung!

Thanks to its very good picture quality, Internet and home-network entertainment features, and general user-friendliness, the Samsung LN40B650 ranks as the best 40- to 42-inch HDTV we've tested this year.

The Samsung LN40B650 produces great-looking on-screen images, and its Internet and home-networking capabilities will keep you entertained when there's nothing good on TV. You can find cheaper 40-inch HDTVs, but the image quality and the extras make the LN40B650 worth its $1200 (as of 9/21/09) price.
