Canon PIXMA MX700 All-In-One Printer

This networkable 5-in-1 is all business, able to quickly produce beautiful photos and bold, professional-quality text. You can print photos right from compatible memory cards - selecting and enhancing images on the 1.8" color LCD display - or directly from a digital camera or DV camcorder. The Automatic Document Feeder (ADF) holds up to 30 originals, and two paper trays can store both plain and photo paper. You'll achieve up to Super G3 fax speed in color and B&W, and the expanded memory can store 40 speed dial codes and receive 100 incoming pages. Copies will be remarkably true to the originals, and when scanning photos you'll produce impressive 2400-dpi results, with vibrant 48-bit color depth.

Duration of ownership: 4 Months

Strengths: Printing, copying.

Weaknesses:Scaanner output is unusable.

Overall Evaluation: For someone who does not need a scanner it's great. From a sharp, contrasty black/white doc it outputs a fuzzy, gray/white doc or pdf file that is readable only at 125% magnification or higher. From a nice sharp 5x7 color print it outputs a soft-focus or out-of-focus scan with pretty good color, but for me unusable. The scanner cover cannot hold a magazine page against the platen, so large areas of the scan are washed out by scattered light. My digital point/shoot camera can make pix of documents at its lowest quality setting that are readable on the camera LCD and are far superior to the output of this ridiculous scanner.

Duration of ownership:

Strengths: Easy network setup, good quality printing, scan to PDF, memory card slots.

Weaknesses:Cannot print black if any color is empty. No automatic double-side printing.

Overall Evaluation: This printer is a great AOI for the price. It offers network connectivity for easy printing through any connected computer . Scanning to PDF over the network is easy. Put your documents in the automatic document feeder, press scan, select PDF and the computer, and now you have an electronic backup of your important documents (eliminate the file cabinets!). Printing is good quality, text is very good. I'm not happy that I must have all colors to print with black, but most printers appear to be manufactured that way these days.

Strengths: looks cool, runs quiet, excellent copies, fax.

Weaknesses:paper tray has a problem.

Overall Evaluation: i really like this printer. it does everything. it really looks professional too. the only thing i don't like is the door where the paper goes in. if you close the door the paper gets jammed up so when you reopen it you have to pull out the paper and put it back in. so i just leave it open. problem solved. the fax is really fast and prints great copies. i also like the fact that i can print excellent quality photos too. i think the unit is priced well and has a lot to offer the home based or small business person.

Duration of ownership: 5 Days

Strengths: Everything on this Machine works Perfect. It is quiet, Prints quickly, and the colors are Vivid on the Photos.

Weaknesses:Only 1 minor exception. It takes a few minutes to warm up before Print Out. ( But does'nt all Good Printers need a little warming up ? ) Afterwards, it works flawlessly.

Overall Evaluation: This All-In-One Printer not only looks Great, the Functions and all it Features is easy to Understand and Work with. Set-up was a Breeze ! ( Just 3 to 5 Minutes to install software ). I am SO GLAD I bought this Machine that I will recommend it to Everybody. For the price,... YOU CAN'T BEAT IT !!!

Overall Evaluation: My HP all-in-one would constantly jam, what good is a multi machine if it constantly jams? So with a little tax money coming my way I figured it was a good time to research and purchase a new all-in-one. Thus far this one has lived up to its ratings and reviews, I really like how easy it was to setup. The networking was a key feature for me and it was easy to configure, I have three PC?s in the house all networked to it. If there was one complaint it would be the software that came with it will install a whole bunch of extra software you don?t need, but most software tries to do that, make sure you go thru the custom install. Testing of the photo printing went very well, Canon always seems to rate well in this area. Considering I purchased this machine on-sale with an additional 10% off the price was great. For the price this is the best all-in-one machine out there.

A few image-quality and design quirks aside, this multifunction printer offers a capable mix of features for a fair price.

The Canon Pixma MX700 color inkjet multifunction printer offers strong overall performance for a comfortably midrange price. While no single multifunction unit could satisfy everyone--I dislike certain aspects of this model's print quality and design, for instance--the Pixma MX700 still deserves credit for its balanced mix of features.
