The Garmin StreetPilot c340 GPS is a user-friendly portable GPS navigator that?s ready to go right out of the box. The Garmin c340 GPS comes preloaded with US and Canadian maps and a massive points of interest (POI) database, making navigation a breeze. It?s a tiny GPS, sporting a bright 3.5-inch touchscreen LCD display for read-at-a-glance convenience ? simply touch and go. And with only two physical controls (a rotary volume knob and an on/off switch), this portable GPS navigator has a simple yet elegant design. GENERAL FEATURES The Garmin StreetPilot c340 GPS navigator features pre-loaded City Navigator NT maps, which include color-coded 2D and 3D street maps as well as a database of six million points of interest. You can even add your own custom points of interest, or set proximity alerts to warn you of upcoming POIs. The Garmin StreetPilot c340 also includes dual speakers for high-quality voice prompting, and its text-to-speech function provides turn-by-turn directions, pronouncing the street names perfectly. Just select a destination and go. The Garmin c340 also features a WAAS-enabled 12-channel GPS receiver, which provides GPS signal corrections for better position accuracy. It can tell your location to within 3 meters. REAL-TIME TRAFFIC INFORMATION Want to avoid construction and traffic? It?s easy ? just add the optional FM TMC traffic receiver, which lets the Garmin c340 GPS receive a continuous stream of TMC traffic information. It uses its own FM transmitter, which means you can keep listening to your stereo interruption-free while the Garmin c340 calculates new routes and minimizes delays. EXPANDABLE GPS The Garmin StreetPilot c340 GPS navigator comes with an SD card slot, making it convenient to add optional maps and other Garmin MapSource products. If you don?t use SD cards, it also has a USB port for PC connectivity. And even though the Garmin c340 has its own internal GPS antenna, it also comes with an MCX-type connector to add an optional external GPS antenna for better satellite reception. ON-THE-GO On the road, the Garmin c340 GPS is anchored to a suction-mount cradle that fastens to the windshield or dash. This provides for easy adjustment and release, so you can move it from vehicle to vehicle. It also includes a 12-volt power adapter for in-car charging. The Garmin StreetPilot c340 GPS is even small enough that you can take it with you on foot, too: its small size and light weight make it very portable, and the lithium-ion battery can power the navigation system for up to 8 hours.

Duration of ownership:

Strengths: Easy to use; Quickly acquires signal; Has found over 99% of the places I want to go.

Weaknesses:Bulky.

Overall Evaluation: It is a good product and works as advertised. The product has all the necessary basics -- voice prompts, clean interface, good signal, etc. Have recommended this product to others. Price is reasonable.

Duration of ownership: 3 Weeks

Strengths: Compact, voice prompts include street names, intuitive software, good clarity on voice prompts all at a good price.

Weaknesses:At $155 there isn't any weakness.

Overall Evaluation: Compact, worked perfect out of the box, great price. This unit did everything I was looking for including voice prompts for street names. A friend recommended the unit, so I went with it as well. Simply a good GPS at a great price. I had no problems or issues.

Duration of ownership:

Strengths: It will get you where you are going!!

Weaknesses:Some roads in new developments are not on here, even after updating. But it still get the job done. It still beats using a map the old fashion way!

Overall Evaluation: I have owned the c340 and decided to buy my father one. It may be a "dated" gps due to it's size, but who cares if you are only going to using it in the car, plus it is a $100 - $300 less than other models with the same features. It works perfect and the text to speech directions are great. I'm a Realtor and using the Garmin saves me countless hours each week planning routes when looking at houses. It is absolutely wonderful finding restaurants or getting phone numbers to make reservations.

Duration of ownership: 2 Weeks

Strengths: Easy to use. Clear screen. Good sound. Many features. Lots of points of interest. Text to speech is worth the extra cost. Great first unit.

Weaknesses:Nothing major - a couple of times the signal was lost, but mostly in remote areas.

Overall Evaluation: This is our first GPS unit and it's great. Easy to use out of the box. Many features are great to have and easy to use - like restaurants, gas, attractions, etc. The extra cost for the text to speech was worth it. It's nice to hear street names to help navigate. This is a good unit at a good price

Duration of ownership: 7 Days

Strengths: Very friendly and easy interface.

Weaknesses:Sometimes when I use any of the saved address from my favorites it takes time to load, its kinda of slow but otherwise it is perfect and fast.

Overall Evaluation: It has all what you need. You can find all the important locations there builtin, and the best thing is when you don't have the address you can type the name of the place you want to go and it will gives you a list with all places have that name. I'm very happy with it and I really recommend it.
