Strengths: Size, inputs,looks,price
Weaknesses:none so far..maybe lack of controls at the speaker.
Overall Evaluation: I enjoy these speakers. They look great, and sound very good. I especially like the multiple inputs that allow for infinite flexibility in usage. TVs, computers, portable anything with line or 1/8 inch outs. And the remote is very functional. Setting adjustments on the speakers would be nice, but with other ways (remote, output of the source when available) to control it, it is'nt a problem for my use. I do recommend these for the low price I payed!

Strengths: Powerful Subwoofer
Weaknesses:Short-range limitation for remote control
Overall Evaluation: Sound investment (no pun intended!) for the price. I wanted to upgrade my speakers for a new laptop that I purchased and I decided to go with this product. I am usually pleased with Altec Lansing products and this was not a disappointment.

Strengths: Good bass. Clear overall sound. Remote is convenient. Pleasing to the eye.
Weaknesses:Mid-range somewhat weak, as is expected.
Overall Evaluation: I wasn't expecting much from these speakers at first, but they have surprisingly good bass, and their overall sound is very good for PC speakers. As most of the other reviewers have noted, their mid-range is weak, but this is the case for nearly all PC speakers. The remote is cheaply made, and the buttons aren't very responsive, but it's still nice to have, and I wouldn't dwell on that as a deal breaker in deciding whether or not to get this set. Overall, worth buying if you can get it at a decent price.

Strengths: Price (online prices are very good). Sleek looks. Big subwoofer. Decent sound range. Remote.
Weaknesses:mids are still weak (as usual for "pc" speakers). Lack of feedback when adjusting the bass/treble.
Overall Evaluation: I previously had the Creative T3030 and these are a slight improvement because the VS4221 has two tweeters and a downward firing mid-range in each speaker. The sound from across the room is impressive but up close, you will notice the lack of midrange. Playing games the midrange is also very noticable but watching movies or listening to music is amazing. The thing I can't stand is the fact that you have no feedback as to what the bass/trebel levels are. You can change them in the remote but different applications will require more/less bass/trebel so it makes you fiddle around to find the perfect setup everytime... instead of being able to tune to it right away. The bass isn't a one-tone thumper so its a plus when you use these for music. Overall, I would recommend these if the price is right.

Strengths: Good Bass. Design is very good looking. Sound is crisp and clean.
Weaknesses:Remote range is pretty weak. No real on/off switch. Inconvenient volume control on right speaker.
Overall Evaluation: I don't have room for a 5.1 computer speaker system so I bought this after reading a lot of good reviews for it.Price-wise, not the cheapest set out there but I definitely think these are worth the extra bit on top of another set.Aesthetically, I think these speakers are very good looking. They aren't freakishly designed for any particular trend and will look good with any silver or black monitor. The sub-woofer design is pretty basic but not important since I stash this on the floor underneath my desk. Subs usually work better on the floor and out of the way.The flat speaker panels tilt back on their stands if one wants to project sound upward, but I have mine facing straight. I couldn't tell much difference in having them one way or another; maybe my room isn't big enough.Soundwise, the bass is good and the speakers project pretty clear and clean. I listen to mostly rock, hip-hop, and R&B so it's important that the speakers have good bass and projection. I'm pretty pleased with this set.The remote isn't that useful since I found that the range isn't all that great. It's needed tho somewhat I guess since the only on/off switch is on the remote other than turning the sound off through the PC. There is a volume up and down button on the right side speaker, but this is annoying to use since it's a + or - button and not just a wheel. It's hard to really set it to how you want it without having the sound coming out while you're setting it. Additionally, there is a headphone jack on the right side speaker. I don't use it much.Overall, I wanted a great sounding, non ugly set of speakers that would do their job. I'm happy with my choice.
