Overall Evaluation: I can't decide what's more frustrating, the scroll wheel or the squeeze side buttons. The wheel stops working regularly, sometimes several times a day. Apple's solution is to hold the mouse upside down and scroll back and forth frantically. This only works temporarily. The squeeze side buttons are placed properly, but I'm constantly launching my application selector when I don't want it (assigned to the squeeze). It's a natural tendency to squeeze when moving or lifting the mouse. It should be at lease half as sensitive. The short cord is also a source of frustration. I have two large displays and lots of desktop, let me mouse!!! It feels like someone is tugging on the cord all day long. Very frustrating. Nice try Apple, but major blunder on this design. In this case, form follows disfunction. I love the idea of this mouse. I hope they get it right next time. For now, it's not useable.

Overall Evaluation: We have had problems with the scroll wheel after six months of purchase. We have cleaned the wheel and it worked again after cleaning. Recently, it stopped all together and I need to purchase another mouse. I liked the mouse and it features when it was working correctly. I am worried about the realiability of the model.

Overall Evaluation: I mostly like this mouse. I was a big fan of the original Apple Mouse that preceded this model. The oval shape fit my hand nicely, and was very comfortable. But, it lacked a right-click ability and a scroll wheel (which almost every other mouse in the world offered). None of the other mice were comfortable in my hands, so I settled for a less functional Apple Mouse that was comfortable to me.Then Apple released the Mighty Mouse. Finally, a multi-button mouse from Apple that fit my hand. I immediately liked this mouse, and was extremely satisfied.But, I quickly discovered that it's side buttons were extremely sensitive. The problem, is that they are not really buttons. They are sensors. The clicking on the side buttons is artificial (as is the clicking noise - electronically generated). The side buttons would activate anytime I had my fingers within an inch of them. So, I eventually decided to deactivate them out of frustration (this is the only solution since this is a common trait in the Mighty Mouse).So, everything was fine. I had my scroll wheel and right-clicking ability now. But, I found out a few months later that the scroll-wheel gets dirty very easily. It stopped scrolling in one direction. So, I cleaned it with a dampened rag and it regained functionality.The only problem with this, is that the mouse cannot be disassembled. So, there is no way to get it 100% clean. So, as time goes on, it requires more and more frequent cleaning. And, sometimes it can take 20 minutes or more of scrubbing and scrolling the ball with a dampened rag to get it to work properly again.It's gotten to where I am forced to clean it about once a week now. When it works, it works beautifully. But, I've never spent this much time cleaning a mouse before in my life (and I've been using mice since the very first one was produced and available to purchase).So, my only real complaint is the scroll ball issue. Since it is a ball, it actually rolls on it's sensors. So, any oil from your fingers (and all fingers have oil) causes the ball and sensors to slick-up.Other companies designs use a wheel on an axis or pin. In that design, there is no direct contact between the wheel and the sensors. So, oil on the wheel doesn't affect the sensors (since the sensors are activated by the rotating pin or axis that the wheel is mounted on).Other than that, there are two things that you will need to get accustomed to. First, there is no right and left button. The whole mouse's body moves up and down when you click. So, a sensor under each finger determines which "click" you are making (left or right). The left finger has priority. So, as long as the left finger is over the sensor, a click with the right finger will still register as a left-click. So, be sure to lift your left finger away from the mouse to make a right-click.And, since the mouse uses an optical tracking sensor, colorful or patterned mouse pads may present some tracking problems. You should use the mouse on a surface that has only a single color if possible. It's tracking sensor seems to easily lose track of it's position more easily than other optical mice I've used. So, the cursor may jump to a corner of the screen frequently if you use a patterned surface under the mouse.Otherwise, it's a nice mouse. But, for many, there may be much better alternatives. For me, it's the only thing that fits my hand right, so I live with it's shortfalls to have a comfortable feeling mouse.

Weaknesses:Overly-sensitive and even software cannot compensate. Could never train myself not to inadvertently squeeze the sides and get bizarre and undesired on-screen behaviors.
Overall Evaluation: I stopped using this mouse because it was more trouble than it was worth. A free-after-rebate old-school mouse (but with scroll wheel) has taken its place because it actually works. With the mighty mouse I would always end up clicking when I didn't intend to click and even shutting off the side buttons via the software I still consistently got bizarre unintended clicks when trying to use this thing. It looks good, but it's not really a usable mouse.

Overall Evaluation: I have given this mouse a positive review in the past (I do not recall where), but now after 3 months of use I have replaced it with an old $20 PC 3 button, USB, optical mouse that cost 1/2 the price. If you are a Mac user and not a 'Mac Nut', save a few bucks and get a better mouse from any other manufacturer. In one phrase I'd characterize the mighty mouse as ....style over substance.
